The senseless trade war with Canada has already driven prices through the roof for working parents, & now these new tariffs are threatening Michigan jobs & undermining American manufacturing.
This trade war with our biggest ally must come to an end.
Chaotic policy upends the economy and kills good-paying jobs. @SenatorSlotkin and I are fighting for smart policy that will create jobs and help businesses grow.
140 of our neighbors lost their jobs when the Administration’s chaotic energy, manufacturing, and tariff policies shut down the SK Siltron plant in Bay County. We need a course correction from Washington now.
Michiganders know better than anyone how much the trade war with Canada has hurt our economy. These new tariffs will make it even worse.
This will raise costs for working families, endanger jobs in our region, & create more chaos we can’t afford.
Good-paying jobs sustain families.
SK Siltron brought 140 to mid-Michigan, but chaotic tariff and energy policies crushed them.
@SenatorSlotkin and I are fighting to fix it and for stable policies that will actually help our communities thrive.
What happens in Washington has real impacts in Michigan. And the 140 workers who lost their jobs at SK Siltron in Monitor Township are feeling that pain firsthand. @repkmr and I visited the area this week to highlight those workers and why we have to keep fighting for Michigan manufacturing.
Congratulations to @JocelynBenson and @AbdulElSayed on hard-fought primary wins, and to everybody who stepped up to run across Michigan.
Families in our region are really hurting right now. For far too long, we have seen politicians put their profit first, while driving prices up and jobs away. Tax cuts for billionaires, cuts to Medicaid and the ACA, and now a war with Iran are only making things worse.
Michigan families are counting on Democrats across #MI08 to come together, stop the chaos, fix the broken system that puts insiders ahead of workers, and deliver on practical solutions that will actually get more money in working families’ pockets – protect Social Security, more housing and cheaper utilities, a real working families tax cut, public education. First, we need to win in November. Let’s get it done.
Over 130,000 Michiganders lost their insurance and are missing out on doctors’ appointments, cancer screenings, and ER visits… all because out-of-touch extremists cut health care to pay for insiders’ tax breaks.
It’s not right, and we need to fix it.
No politician should get rich off insider information, especially while parents struggle to afford groceries or housing. Let’s close the loopholes and get to work lowering costs for working families.
Families are being crushed by high housing costs. Democrats and Republicans came together in massive numbers to pass a bill that will lower those costs.
And instead of signing it into law, the President is playing political games.
Personally, I don’t “love” that Americans are being forced to pay sky-high prices because the President started a war with no exit strategy. But maybe that’s just me.
At a @HouseAgDems hearing with Secretary Rollins today, it was clear that the Administration doesn’t have any plans to address skyrocketing fertilizer and fuel prices, which are hurting our farmers. One place we should start is ending the war in Iran.
It’s beyond frustrating when your money is stuck because the government made a mistake or is taking too long. That’s where our team comes in to cut red tape and get your money back.
We’ve returned over $10 million to the residents of Genesee, Saginaw, Bay, and Midland counties, so if you’re having problems, know we’re here to help.
Today, the Islamic Center of San Diego was the site of a deadly shooting. Another attack on a place of worship. Another reminder that hate and violence are threatening the basic promise that people should be able to gather in peace and practice their faith without fear.
I’m grateful to the law enforcement officers and first responders who acted quickly and courageously.
Tonight, Joseph and I are holding the victims, their families, and Muslim communities in California, Michigan, and around the world in our prayers. Hate has no place in this country.
Not news to anybody: gas prices are too damn high.
It’s time Washington gets the memo and takes commonsense steps to bring them down:
🪖end the war
🌽allow year-round E15
📈prevent big oil from price gouging
The Supreme Court’s attack on the Voting Rights Act undermines Americans’ right to fair representation.
We have bills ready to go to protect voting rights, end gerrymandering, and reform the Supreme Court. The Speaker should call a vote on them NOW.
Hot rotisserie chicken is:
✅ cheap
✅ fast
✅ healthy
✅ delicious
❌ covered under SNAP
Last week the House passed our bill to let SNAP families buy hot rotisserie chicken, and we’re going to keep pecking until it’s signed into law. 🍗
🚨GREAT NEWS: our bill to let SNAP families buy hot rotisserie chicken just passed the House!
After raising a pile of kids, I know what a life saver a hot chicken can be when you need to put food on the table at the end of a long day. It’s backwards to stop SNAP families from from buying this fast, easy, and affordable meal…time to fix it and give working families a break.
