@SoVeryBritish Ongoing agonising pain in the right foot from having the temerity to Wear Boots. Flat, comfy-fit, well-padded boots for the middle-aged lady. How very dare I...
@FleurHitchcock 4/... but that's where publishers need to liaise with schools/actual children to better understand emotional & ability development & guide the industry & users better.
End .
@FleurHitchcock 3/ There'll never be perfect cut-offs for age ranges - each reader is different, & there can't be lots of mini-sections in libraries/shops.../
@FleurHitchcock 2/ more curation for crossover between primary/secondary ages - say 10-13 (yrs 6-8 in UK) - a lot of YA is not suitable for 11-13. Then a range aimed at 6-9yrs old - a lot of 5-8s isn't interesting for good 8 yo readers. .../
Today, Isla is very kindly giving me trial run as bookseller at Criminally Good Books & I can’t tell you how excited I am! If you’re in York, please do call in & say hi & maybe buy a book or two!
Please do also give @crimegoodyork a follow now they’re on Twitter! 📖🙌🏻
@IanMooreAuthor That's made my day! Lovely to see you again, can't wait to get started with Juge Lombard this evening 😊 Hope your enjoyed your chips - we'll be expecting some of those as well as the onesie next time...
@DanSmithAuthor@EduMsfb We had a Bernard like that. No one could ever explain it. When we all left school & I met up with him during uni, it felt very strange that suddenly other people called him something else - I had to relearn his real name!
@KatyMParkinson Oooh, looking lovely! We haven't harvested yet, our whole garden seems to be on a go-slow this year, but there's plenty of fruit coming on - won't be long! 😍
@joannanadin But you can't then nibble the chocolate off each end and along the length of each finger! I'm mean, what's the actual point...?! Insanity.
@Anna_Mazz I find it helpful because it
1) fixes you & your book in my mental list of ideas when recommending, gives deeper context;
2) creates a real buzz about our bookshop - we're the kind of place *actual authors* visit! Telling customers the author's been in gets them excited too!🥳
@julesbuddle @SaimaMir I've been physically lucky - just the odd flush, & actually managing to lose weight. But my God, can I ever remember what I'm talking about? I start a sentence fully in control, by 4th word in I can't remember the name of a thing & the whole lot goes. And I'm constantly angry.
@HeadlineFiction any chance I could ABSOLUTELY BEG ON BENDED KNEE a proof copy of @MaryAliceEvans #OMDB? I love her writing & it looks like a perfect book for our shop so I'd love to get behind it (just pre-ordered a copy too!). Shop details in next tweet, just in case I'm lucky!
@MaryAliceEvans @WStonesNorthal Ooh, you're a star in so many ways!
The also-lovely thing is, my youngest (your no2 biggest fan after me, & co-Classics nerd - such a joy!) is also a #whodunit fiend, & is now old enough to graduate from #WLTGO to #0MDB with me, so multiple yays all round! X
