Friendly tidbit from an ICU physician with kids in school - to parents and especially the media - set your watch by hospitalizations and deaths, NOT case numbers (which are a function of testing) as your barometer of what's going on with COVID severity.
If you’re going to start a poll, please add a ‘I just want to lurk on the results’ option. We see polls for a specific discipline or training level but sometimes we’re just curious and don’t want to skew results. #medtwitter
I’m only 22 and Im in no rush to skip any steps in my career. I want to be working at the bedside. I want to get experience on as many units as I can. I want to be confident in my skills and critical thinking. I want to become a well rounded nurse before I pursue higher edu
You are told to FEAR:
🌞The Sun
🥩Meat
🧂Salt
🥑Fat
BUT, what you should really fear is:
🐑Being a sheep
🍟Seed oils
🍧Sugar
❌Toxins in your environment
🛑Eating all day long/snacking
What did I miss?
Women who create drama and gossip are the lowest form of women around.....a recent situation reminded me of this. Find a hobby, go back to school, pray, exercise.....anything other than create disharmony in other people’s lives for FUN
Nobody thinks your tweets represent the view of your employer. You don't need to waste space in your profile to say that. You'll still get fired if you tweet something stupid of course, but that statement won't prevent that.
“How is this legal?”
I reliably get this reaction when I explain aspects of oncology to friends&family, both medical and non.

All the major cruise lines are asking for bailouts from the U.S. Government.
Yet, Disney Cruises sails under the Bahamian flag ... Celebrity Cruises under Liberian/Maltese flags & Carnival Cruises under the Panamanian flag - all to avoid U.S. taxes & employment law

Address the elephant in the room.
When reviewing abnormal results, ask the pt what worries them most and explain your plan to rule it in or out.
Allow pt to voice their greatest fear + make a plan for it = provide comfort in uncertainty.

Do you have any other peri-intubation hacks? Let us know in the comments below.

Your attachments are holding you back.
And not just your attachment to possessions, but also:
> Your attachment to things going as planned
> Your need to control other people
> Your need to be right
Let it all fall away.
Embrace reality.
Your freedom depends on it.
