@MurrayHillGuy1 Only good thing about Charlotte was the airport.
When I told my boss I’d work remotely from Texas she said yes but that she’d never hire anyone from Tx again because they always went back.
Your kids learn more from how you handle a random Monday than they do from your speeches.
How you treat your spouse.
How you react when you're stressed.
Whether you keep your word.
They're always watching.
Babies are the best.
I can't believe I ever bought any of the anti-natalist propaganda when I was young.
You'll never be ready.
Have the baby anyway.
Then have many more.
I've become increasingly convinced that a good life is less about adding things and more about removing drains.
Less alcohol.
Less clutter.
Less scrolling.
Less drama.
Less rushing.
Energy is finite. Protect it.
Going outside to mow with my shirt off so all the bots from southeast Asia can take a picture, whine about it, and try increase their impressions on X.
@jimmygards Having irrational self confidence is the only way you can be a D1 college baseball player.
Now, internalizing it vs. proclaiming it to anyone and everyone is a different conversation.
The hardest part of having young kids isn't the lack of time.
It's the constant fragmentation.
You're shifting between work, family, and a hundred other responsibilities all day long.
You're rarely focused on just one thing for very long.
The goal isn't perfect balance.
It's learning to be present wherever you are.
@bowtiedmeathead Minor league catchers historically make great coaches. Got a taste but not all the way there, could see the whole field, caught and hit pitchers that played in the MLB.
@anymanfitness It’s like any other white collar career. You can work as much as you desire. Some that work more may be better/more prepared but plenty of good veteran teachers who don’t.
The best teachers are woefully underpaid, but many are overpaid—again, like almost any other career.
@jimmygards Man, great memory of 8 of us showing up for one or buddy’s and then going to a Los Cucos in a town population like 2,500 and smashed some margs.
