Different architectural concepts transforming into a building

This 42-storey exoskeleton skyscraper is set to be constructed in Dubai. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects for Imtiaz Developments, the Symphony Tower has been inspired by the geometries and detailed embroidery of Al Sadu and Talli – the traditional Emirati crafts of weaving with metallic threads.

Though primarily structural, the exoskeleton and its terraces are also planned to act as shading for the building's façades and outdoor living areas.

The tower is due to be served by a planned extension of the Dubai Metro.

Tondo Bridge, is a distinctive footbridge connecting two buildings of the Belgian Federal Parliament in Brussels. Completed in 2020, the 110 m² structure was conceived as a passage and a spatial experience.

Shaped as a circular ring, the bridge is inspired by the Renaissance ‘Tondo’ tradition. It incorporates a continuous, gently sloping path, ensuring accessibility while subtly negotiating a 90 cm height difference between the two buildings. Beyond its functional role, it serves as a meeting space, encouraging interaction rather than just transit.

Er komen 2 nieuwe woontorens op de Kop van Zuid: de Havana en de Philadelphia. Deze zijn met elkaar verbonden door een goudkleurige balk. Van een afstand lijken ze op een saxofoon. Het bouwproject heet dan ook De Sax. 🎷 De bouw begint deze week.

1/4 – The Netherlands faces a shortage of 60.000 student homes by 2030.
We need them fast.
But here’s the paradox: almost every project starts with a negative business case, even with subsidies. 📉

To close the gap, we cut corners and lose more than money.
We lose colour, quality and inspiration.

3/4 - Land prices, stacked ambitions and rising costs make every plan a puzzle. 🧩
Municipalities demand more: affordability, circularity, CO₂ reduction…
But returns stay flat.

Result? Spatial quality suffers.
Design, greenery and shared spaces, the soul of student life, disappear first.
Yet these are the places that inspire students to connect, create and grow. ✨
