@Carolin22478581@djdapperdan It’s been a fantastic week and brilliant to Normandy around with you. I’m now very confident in both the WW1 and WW2 rounds at the next pub quiz!
@Pingosaurus Nathan! So very true, Ivor is a young thing so bottom of the brain cell waiting list. Our first cat Victor was ginger ate anything and never learnt, utterly faithless.
@Pingosaurus Graeme, what a handsome chap and quality dangling! That’s a very intense stare, Ivor is not the brightest boy, he tries to stare but generally forgets what he’s doing half way through.
@SophieMHistory That’s a very good age but I imagine it never left her and probably no outlet for the dreams and flashbacks. Same as you with the afterlives, I work in Dorset’s old court now a museum, I often mull on how some people involved and affected by the crimes managed to carry on.
@SophieMHistory It’s unimaginable. There’s a photo of Edith in the asylum records, she ended up as a servant before her admission and was described as defiant, which you can see in her photo. There is a satisfyingly feisty look in her eyes.
@SophieMHistory He killed his infant son and injured his wife and several other children. He was declared insane and committed to Broadmoor from Dorchester Gaol. It’s a terribly sad story, Edith witnessed the tragedy and I imagine suffered terribly from PTSD.
@SophieMHistory Meat yard is a Dorset name, I came across an Edith Meatyard in the Herrison Hospital (Dorset Asylum) records. Her father had also been admitted to Herrison and some time after attacked the family with a knife in 1884.
@StephenMcGann Recently booked to see ‘One Life’. Thought it odd they were showing it in the upcoming films reel. Surprised to find we were a week early, nonetheless enjoyed the somewhat different film ‘Ferrari’! Did the same some years ago when ‘The Queen’ turned out to be ‘Casino Royale’!
