This is literally a sustainability practice and you’re complaining?

Delborough is doing what good establishments worldwide do, using refillable glass bottles instead of single-use plastic.

That’s premium service, not a restriction. They’re reducing waste, cutting plastic pollution, and operating responsibly.

But somehow Nigerians will see an environmentally conscious practice and turn it into ‘they’re oppressing me by not letting me steal their property.’

You weren’t buying the bottle. You were given water IN a bottle. The same way restaurants don’t let you take their plates and cups home just because you ate off them. Or why didn’t you take the plates too?

This is exactly why we’re drowning in plastic waste. We want to take everything, own everything, dispose of everything. No thought for sustainability, just immediate gratification.

In Europe, they charge you deposits for bottles to encourage returns. In Asia, refillable systems are standard. But here? ‘How dare they not let me leave with their reusable bottle that costs ₦5,000 to replace.’

Maybe instead of complaining, appreciate that a Nigerian business is actually trying to operate sustainably in a country where most places are still handing out one-use plastic bags like it’s 1995.

Not everything is about you. Sometimes it’s about the planet.

I agree that the cultural practice around marital rites needs to be expunged because they were founded on principles that leads to King Chidi's mindset. While those practice worked for that generation, it has no place today. It defeats common sense, logic and good covenant.

The thing is, you dont need to do all these to be the head of the home. You are the head by being a man. But because culture is expecting you to do these, you are clapping back by taking her as an object purchased for pleasure. I still submit that you people need to evaluate why you want to get married.

Your leadership in the home is not contestable, but leadership is not a pretext for evil. To lead, you have to be kind, you have to show up, you have to lead by example, you need to protect and provide for your family. You need to work together with your partner in the best interest of the home. The woman you married is not a slave. You dont want her losing her voice or sense of worth because she is married to you. Familial respect doesn't come by bullying and totalitarianism. Home should be everyone's peace and safe place.

I know you people want to sound and appear Alpha strong, but being a strong man, includes being kind. There is nothing weak about kindness and compassion. There is nothing weak about looking out for others. There's nothing weak about being honorable. You're not a sucker to have integrity and to treat your partner with respect.
