@AMLabEcon Waiting until mid-way through high school is too late. Build a narrative of their passion and show it in their volunteer/research/studies. I hate to say it but nowadays the kid has to be a gunner to get into Cal, UCLA, SD and Davis.

@AMLabEcon All four of my kids were admitted to Cal, three of them attended and one of those three will be starting her masters degree there in the fall. In fact, my son currently attends and was just elected a senator. I’d be happy to tell you what each of them did to earn their spots.

@AMLabEcon I’m not listing all they did, I’m just throwing out some of it to show that it takes a crap ton of work to get in but that crap ton of work also got them into incredible schools throughout the US. I think the key is to start doing really substantive things in middle school.

@AMLabEcon My four kids combined have taken almost 50 AP classes and also did dual enrollment at a junior college. All four have seal of biliteracy. Two have CA state seal of civic engagement. One has the Presidential Medal of Service. All four did MUN. All did TONS of volunteer work.

@AMLabEcon One started a legit medical clinical trial at two local hospitals and will be published in a medical journal. One started their own business. One was junior class and Student Body President. Another won the Dean’s List award and was on a global advocacy panel for First Robotics.

@AMLabEcon My kids are 100% white and not first-gen. All were valedictorians and multi-sport athletes. They were all CA state champions and national finalists in History Day. They did mock trial, speech/debate, First Robotics, Science Olympiad, and one was a trustee on the school board.

Later he was the lone senator who voted to impeach him, standing alone in the face of GOP disapproval and condemnation. He is one of the only in the GOP to speak out.

@librarythingtim And yet I saw nothing about it in any news station. Why not? This is a massive security breach. This is their (and the parents) FAFSA financial information, their login and passwords, mental health records, grades, etc. This blows up the FERPA (student privacy) initiative.

@marketbidder Who cares if it was the biggest drop since 1991? It’s high because of Trump’s stupid “excursion”. This 10-point deal is a humiliating for the US and to say anything different is farcical. Iran now controls the Strait, is charging 2mm per ship and will be richer than ever before.
