Seoul now: The area around the BTS performing stage has been secured with what is effectively a fortress-like blockade to prevent terrorism. Using barricades and police bus walls, authorities have set up triple-layer security lines at five main roads and fifteen side streets to block any attempted vehicle-ramming attacks.
The section from Jeokseon Intersection to Dongsipjagak Intersection, centered around the stage where the BTS members will perform, will be turned into a “sterile zone.” Multiple layers of fencing will be installed, and public access will be completely restricted.
Police estimated that up to 260,000 people would gather around Gwanghwamun area on the day of the performance. This would be the largest turnout for a cultural event since the street cheering during the 2002 World Cup.
