“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens”, says the Lord in the #GospelOfTheDay (Mt 11:25–30). Jesus takes upon himself humanity wounded by evil in order to heal and care for it.
The story of America is unmatched in human civilization.
It is the story of undaunted courage, of a bloody independence, of a Republic on the brink, of rebuilding & restoring, of rights being secured, and of sacrifice & liberation of those in the old countries who have lost hope.
It is the creation of a new, American, identity.
An identity that since the founding of our country has been open to those who truly desire to be American and adopt a wholly new spirit of being an American as our ancestors did when arriving on the shores of this foreign land.
Theodore Roosevelt, an inspirer of men and a believer in the soul of America and in calling his countrymen to the highest of callings which our founding documents and our faith demand of us, knew that adopting this new American identity was necessary to maintain the fabric of our republic.
He knew that anyone “who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.
But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag.”
As a defining characteristic, our American identity is second only to that of our faith.
On the 250th anniversary of our country, a country that has secured more rights, alleviated more poverty, ended more suffering for more people than any other on the face of the earth, I am praying for a renewal of the love and desire to adopt that American identity that so many toiled, labored, and bled to preserve.
To 250 more years of Independence and a revival of the American spirit.

World Cup travelers have had their eyes opened to what a great country this is
I didn’t know how badly I needed all of this foreigners visiting the US for the World Cup content. It’s reminded me that Americans are more good than bad and it’s politicians and the media keeping us angry and cynical. My heart is genuinely warmed.
June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Every day this month I will pray and post the Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus:
O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore Thee, I love Thee and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer Thee this poor heart of mine.
Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Thy will.
Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in Thee and for Thee.
Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Thy blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death.
Within Thy Heart I place my every care.
In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust saying:
Heart of Jesus help me.
We always think it is only parents who give life, but in reality our children also give life to us.
We are born anew in the love of our children and become who we were meant to be.
The culture is dominated by the message of kids “interrupting” something. Like what? A stupid job? Brunch? Another vapid “trip” to post pics of the “besties” eating nachos? What a lie people have been sold.
Mother Teresa famously declared that "the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion," She believed that if a mother is permitted to destroy her own child, there is nothing to prevent people from destroying one another.
You exist because God wanted you to exist.
You are here to know Him, love Him, serve Him, and become a saint.
Everything else—career, money, pleasure, status, even suffering—is secondary to that.
Life is preparation for eternity.
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
