@Eltralia_C Not many. These are ideologically rare individuals among pirates.
Most of is acknowledge the financial realities of art. We believe art should be accessible, not free of charge.
@k34615 That message worked for our industries, though I understand that this perspective is alien in Japan and we are talking past each other (many still believe the disproven myth that a pirate can’t be a customer).
@k34615 Outside of an unruly minority, we are not boasting. We are pleading our case to distribution companies that our passion is here and untapped. Please, take our money!
@msg1415 No, you are completely wrong.
The biggest success stories in music and games services in the west were service solutions to address piracy.
Pirates do not show a lack of demand for the official work, it is the opposite.
@cryptosuzuki@t_kikuchi We are not arguing for piracy to be legitimized or made legal (the people who believe that are the extreme minority). It is an unfortunate method of survival as a fan, so long as we have nothing else.
Piracy led to better service in our home industries. We hope to see that here.
@AsahiMartha It is an unfortunate way to phrase it for business, but I don’t mind it.
Manga and Anime is interesting because it is uniquely Japanese, our true fans do not want that to change.
But we do want to give our financial support, and the current system denies us that in many ways.
@AyattiM11861 4. There is an unspoken fan translator code that once a series is picked up officially, they stop translating it themselves and suggest the official release.
@AyattiM11861 3. Untranslated works (most works, by a lot) are rarely pirated by us. The statistics show that pirates downloading untouched Japanese manga are mostly Japanese pirates.
@imoutopantsu The company that realizes that pirates are customers waiting to be treated like customers will make so much money.
Happened with Steam, happened with Spotify, happened with Netflix.
@OCTtkrb@sangowataisetsu I speak persuasively because what I say is reasonable and true.
I cannot be shamed into compliance with a system that excludes me as a customer.
