The creator of Linux just publicly called out the AI hype. Word for word.
Linus Torvalds took the stage at Open Source Summit 2026 and said this:
"When I see people saying 99% of our code is written by AI, I literally get angry. Because those same people — I can pretty much guarantee — 100% of their code is written by compilers. But they never say that."
He is not anti AI. The Linux kernel saw a 20% jump in submissions this release because of AI tools. He uses it. He gets it.
His point is something most people are too afraid to say.
AI is a productivity tool exactly like compilers were. Compilers boosted programming by 1000x. AI adds another 10x on top. Enormous. But nobody says "the compiler wrote my code." So why are we saying AI wrote it?
He also flagged something nobody is talking about.
AI is flooding small open source projects with drive-by bug reports. Someone runs a prompt, files a report and disappears when asked for a patch. Maintainers with one or two people are drowning trying to keep up.
"Sometimes AI reports a bug and when you ask for more information the person has done that drive-by and does not even answer your question. That is the real burnout issue."
And his final warning was the sharpest of all.
"People who do not understand the complexity of systems will prompt systems and write processes that will fail."
The AI hype crowd is very loud right now.
Linus has been building real systems for 35 years. When he talks, engineers listen.

Protein is the latest fad.
My grandfather died at the age of 103. No Protein supplements. Only proper south Indian food. Same quantity every day. He used to have half a spoon methi seeds soaked in water the previous night, with a spoonful of curd, first thing in the morning.
Idli, dosa, sambar, sundal, Pesarattu has enough Protein for healthy living.
#Protein
The urban middle class is the most punished section of Indian society.
They pay direct income tax.
They pay GST.
The companies they work for, pay Corporate tax.
Almost all the tax burden is on them!
Raise your hand if you are in that burdened but niche category 🙋
Only 1.5% of Indians pay income tax and most of them are salaried employees.
Meanwhile, lakhs of shops, stalls, coaching classes, and small businesses earn every day, yet many remain outside the tax net.
That's the real imbalance in the system.
India should not be buying oil from Russia. But China, an adversary and the number one buyer of Russian and Iranian oil, got a 90-day tariff pause. Don’t give China a pass and burn a relationship with a strong ally like India.
Is the Indian family system dead?
A friend (let's call him 'X') recently lost his father. He's been living in the US for the last 15 years while his father lived alone in Jaipur - his mother passed away 3 years back.
Few days earlier, I received a frantic call from him at 3 AM - asking me to go & check on his father (84 years) as he was feeling restless.
I went along with few friends & took him to hospital immediately. He had a cardiac arrest followed by multiple organ failure. We got him the best possible treatment, he stabilised & few of his relatives showed up - none of whom was ready to pay any bills, shoulder responsibility etc.
X didn't come to India as he was working on a "multi-million dollar deal" while his dad was in the ICU - BATTLING for his life. Last week, his father passed away - then he came to India for 3 days & went back to work on his deal.
What shook me up was
- His American dream mattered more to him than his ailing father.
- His wife & kids didn't even show up when he passed away. They stayed back in the US - he said "she has a job & kids have school" - unbelievable!
- None of his relatives in the city did anything to help except making a courtesy visit while I and few other friends juggled in & out of hospital, regularly followed up with doctors, took care of expenses & took turns but never left his dad alone till his last breath.
- He himself left India after 3 days - immediately after the baithak - no Asthi Visarjan, none of the other rituals stating that these are all superstitions which we don't believe in.
All along, I've believed that the Indian family values, our rituals and bonding are much better & stronger than anywhere else in the world. But this incident has shaken me to the core!
Where are we heading to as an Indian society and where are our family values disappearing - thoughts are welcome.
The most absurd policy is forcing people to scrap their cars the moment they complete 10 years.
1. If age is the real concern, then what’s the point of a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate? Scrap that first.
2. If pollution is the issue, how do new luxury cars emitting more pollutants than some 10-year-old well-maintained cars get a free pass?
And why aren't govt buses, planes, and other public vehicles held to the same standard?
Not every family can afford a brand-new car. Many rely on 5-6-year-old second-hand cars that are affordable and functional. Should they drive it for just 3-4 years and then send it to the Kabadiwala?
This isn’t about pollution. It’s a ruthless policy and the only ones benefitting are the automobile companies...
My parent's car is 15 years old, barely 20k km driven, still runs like new.
Engine untouched, PUC perfect. Yet it must be scrapped under govt absurd policy.
After looting 30–40% taxes, they will now seize your car at petrol pumps.
Just to keep middle class under loans forever!
@socialepfo@mygovindia@PMOIndia@LabourMinistry@mansukhmandviya@ShobhaBJP@PIB_India@MIB_India First, you need to ensure that your KR Pura EPFO office is functioning properly. It has been six months since I started tweeting, and the whole of India is suffering due to the systemic problems within the EPFO department.Even after instructions from your handle nothing happened.

Lalu's black side is not just about corruption, it's beyond that. It's time to remind you of the Champa Vishwas Scandal :
In 1995 ,wife of a senior IAS officer posted in Bihar was rap*d for more than 2 years. The rap*st was Mrityunjay Yadav, son of RJD leader Hemlata Yadav who was very close to Lalu family.
Yes you heard it right, rape of an IAS officer's wife.
Imagine the situation of law and order & gundaraj at that time, that IAS officer couldn't do anything against it, couldn't even protect his own wife. He tried everything but failed.
When he talked to senior police officers, they asked him to remain silent to save their lives. And other side Mrityunjay kept raping his wife which lasted for over 2 years.
The helpless wife of that IAS had to do sterilization so that she doesn't get pregnant with that monster RJD leader.
The IAS officer then decides to talk to then governor Sundar Singh Bhandari. The governor listened to him, talked to police officers as well as the state govt but no result. Nobody got ready for action.
Imagine even the governor was helpless in that era.
And then the governor reported it to the central home ministry & BJP leader Sushil Singh raised this in a press conference.
The monster was arrested after this & sent to jail.
But for how much time? Just 5 years... Yes 5 years for raping a woman for 2 years.
After reading this you can imagine the situation of ordinary people, especially women in that era. RJD leaders used to pick any random girl and rape her until they were bored of her.
This family is a curse on Bihar.
It is very unfortunate that we lost so many lives in Air India crash in Ahmedabad today. Jupiter is yet to enter Ardra, and India’s Mars Mahadasha is yet to begin—yet so much has already started. So many taggings, so many RTs, I’m unable to reply to everyone. Apologies for that.
Om Shanti 🙏🏻
