The honorable High Court of Sindh, in a judgement authored by the Chief Justice SHC himself has dismissed petititon against the 26th amendment. This has to be the closest thing to a judicial slap in the face for the poor petitioners that I have ever read! As the order points out, petitioners who ‘claimed to be practicing advocates’ , ‘miserably failed’ and were ‘unable to articulate which article would compel’ government to do anything they demanded. Legislative procedure as laid out from Article 70 - 77 doesn’t say legislature needs any permission before legislating. How embarrassing for these so called lawyers who have filed the same petitions before multiple HCs & the SC. These lawyers have gotten so used to holy cow syndrome that they actually think the law and constitution allows our courts to pre-emptily restrain parliament from legislating! Clearly no one should be listening to their opinions on judicial reforms.
