Ended up not being for me due to the wax, but if you're considering, the Bedale is an easy choice, Beaufort for a longer classic coat, and the Powell for a quilted one. Sage is a classic color, but you can't go wrong tbh
Was browsing some Japanese selection stores and noticed Barbours being sold there (at quite a premium too). Makes sense when you look at these and the outdoor vibe you get from them. Makes you want to get one too.
That was me, until I did some research:
- They have British hunting heritage, which feels a little out of place in a city, though people pull them off
- The classics are waxed cotton, which rubs off on anything you touch
- They have big audience but fit a very specific vibe
Did a shallow dive into GATs (german army trainers) recently. A few main options out there, from Margiela to Adidas. But honestly looking at used ones on ebay, not a fan of how dirty the suede gets. Sharing this here in case anyone is interested
we know the good founder coffee spots in SF… so we you made a custom google maps list 📍
and if you're a mercury cardmember, coffee at any of these spots is on us next week → https://t.co/qXlUr15Qgn
Speaking of backpacks, my TNF Borealis finally got to a point where I had to replace it, after over 12 years. I really liked it and have brought it through college, work, travel, and more. It's fairly compact but can be packed with so much stuff if needed.
Recently with my visit to home, I found an old backpack that might be the perfect fit for me. The current Refugio is 30L & 26L, but Patagonia used to make a 28L version complete with the laptop sleeve and accessory compartment, exactly what I wanted.
Obviously, there are embroideries like this that would be impossible to remove, but for lightweight ones, it just takes an hour or so with some sharp object
Had a quality backpack from home that I wanted to use. Dived into the seam ripper rabbit hole to remove the Google embroidery. tldr you don't need one. Get a box cutter and trace the lines from behind, then pull the threads out from the front
For me, (1) not keeping strict score (2) make yourself available in common spaces (3) have a thing to do while hanging out that can be the distraction when conversation dies
Recently came across and read this, well written piece that doesn't actually offer practical advice but there are some good things to keep in mind.
