Salute: entro 2–3km provoca gravi malattie (cuore, respiro, sistema immunitario).
Economia: costa 4 volte più del carbone
The Trump administration has found a new target in its long war on Cuba: the island’s doctors. As the Wall Street Journal reports, Washington is now moving to destroy Cuba’s overseas medical missions – one of its last remaining sources of dollar income – having already blocked its fuel, sanctioned its officials and choked off remittances. Marco Rubio has toured the Caribbean threatening visa bans against any official who keeps employing Cuban medics, denouncing the programme – bizarrely – as “forced labour” and “state-sponsored human-trafficking brigades”.
Since 1963 – the first mission went to newly independent Algeria – Cuba has sent what Fidel called an “army of white coats” to heal the poor of the world. Some 24,000 Cuban health workers currently serve across more than 50 countries, from tiny Caribbean islands to the rural villages of southern Italy. They staff the clinics no one else will.
In Honduras, residents gave the departing Cuban medics a tearful ovation. Jamaica’s prime minister, standing beside Rubio, pushed back to his face: the Cuban doctors “have been incredibly helpful to us”. St Lucia’s leader said plainly that “our medical system would basically collapse without them”. And when the US leaned on St Vincent and the Grenadines, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves responded firmly: “I will prefer to lose my visa than to have 60 poor and working people die.”
That is the choice the United States is forcing on the region: get rid of the Cuban doctors, or be punished. The world’s richest country would rather the poor of the Global South go blind and die than tolerate Cuban solidarity.
Why? Because those missions are not only Cuba’s largest export – some $5.3 billion in 2024, half of all its foreign earnings – but the clearest proof of what a small socialist country can offer humanity. That is the real target. Not “trafficking”, but the threat of a good example: a blockaded island of 11 million that sends doctors where empires send gunboats.
To wage war on Cuba’s doctors is to admit you have nothing to offer the world. Solidarity with Cuba has never been more urgent. ¡Venceremos!
🇺🇸🇨🇳 What China's Long March 10B successful launch/recovery means within US plans to encircle, contain, & confront China...
▪️One of the US' remaining advantages is its ability to launch more payload to orbit each year than China and Russia combined - allowing it to not only build larger constellations of satellites like Starlink and its fully militarized version, Starshield faster, but in the event of orbital warfare (anti-satellite operations) the US could replace their own faster than China and Russia can even deploy them in the first place;
▪️When China ramps up its actual launch cadence with launch reusability, it will be able to at least match, if not surpass the US;
▪️This will benefit China and its allies like Russia tremendously with both larger and more capable constellations than the US, as well as the ability to eliminate US satellites and replace their own at a higher rate;
▪️That means there is now another rapidly closing window the US has to exploit before this transition takes place, and this advantage is neutralized;
▪️The only question now is how long will it take for China to catch up, and what will the US try to do in the interim to exploit its current advantage before it no longer exists?
▪️The likely window closes around 2030 - another reason the US keeps projecting "war" with China - because 2030 is the point of no return, not just for space, but AI and whatever other advantages the US still has;
▪️For people wondering why China isn't going to war with the US over Palestine or Iran or wherever else, it is likely because Beijing tracks China's rise as inevitable, UNLESS, it does something like step into a war the US wants to fight with China sooner rather than later...
Visual data confirms a heightened presence of Israeli reconnaissance drone activity over several key districts in southern Lebanon. The surveillance patterns, as mapped, are primarily concentrated across the Nabatieh and Marjayoun regions, extending into parts of the Shouf area.
These flight paths cover multiple southern Lebanese towns and surrounding areas, indicating an active and widespread monitoring operation currently taking place.
Iran reports $300 million in damage to research infrastructure following US-Israeli attacks
——
Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin announced that the country's research infrastructure sustained $300 million in damages during recent attacks. According to reports from IRNA news agency, the official noted that knowledge-based companies also incurred substantial financial setbacks during the US-lsraeli war on Iran.
The losses reported by these firms reached 65 million rials alongside $25 million in foreign exchange. Afshin characterized the events as an "imposed war" aimed at undermining the nation's technical capabilities.
Regarding the path forward, the vice president emphasized a commitment to recovery efforts. "The enemy had targeted Iran's scientific and technological authority, which will be rebuilt with power," Afshin stated.
In Gaza, a paper identity card is no longer the only document Palestinians carry to prove who they are. Thousands of families now carry another document, a “malnutrition booklet”, a record that reflects bodies worn down by hunger and disease.
