Jewish filmmaker Sarah Friedland accepts award at the Venice Film festival.
“I am accepting this award on the 336th day of Israel’s genocide in Gaza and 76th year of occupation…I stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine in their struggle for liberation.”
B’Tselem’s new 360° VR documentary, Raj’in (“We Shall Return”), co-produced by B’Tselem and NowHere Media, will have its world premiere from 2 to 12 September as part of Venice Immersive at the Venice International Film Festival.
The film follows the stories of Palestinians from shepherding communities in the West Bank who are forced to confront violence, demolitions and displacement from their land by Israel: Jaber ‘Ali Dababseh, who holds on to his land in the face ofrepeated attacks and the demolition of his home in Khirbet Khallet a-Daba’; ‘Alya Mleihat, who was forcibly displaced together with her community from al-Mu‘arrajat; and the Hreizat family, who were forced to dismantle their home and leave Ras ‘Ein al-‘Auja.
Their stories are part of a broader reality of ethnic cleansing that Isreal is carrying out across the West Bank. Since October 2023, 64 Palestinian communities have been entirely forcibly displaced, while another 15 have been partially displaced. More than 4,782 people have been driven from their homes and land, including at least 2,273 children.
Raj’in was co-created by Faiz Abu Rmeleh and Keren Manor and co-produced by B’Tselem and the award-winning immersive studio NowHere Media. Drawing on the studio’s expertise in immersive storytelling, the collaboration helped translate the reality faced by Palestinian communities in the West Bank into a cinematic experience that places viewers inside the spaces where it unfolds. The film was shot in 360° and also incorporates footage filmed by residents themselves and by protective presence activists.
The film takes its title, Raj’in (راجعين – “We Shall Return”), from graffiti that ‘Alya sprayed on her home before she was forced to leave it.

🚨 FINAL ARRESTS IN PARLIAMENT SQUARE
All 60 people blocking the roads have now been arrested. Once again we've been putting our bodies on the line, risking arrest and even imprisonment, because we do not consent to plans that will result in 3C of warming and mass death.
One of the last to be arrested was Jo, who sat in the road for over 4 hours. Listen to her explain why she took action today.

Hi @JGreenblattADL and @ADL, I’ll ask again: do you endorse this brazen anti-Muslim bigotry at the Jewish summit in LA that the ADL sponsored and spoke at? If not, have you disowned and condemned it? Will you be sponsoring such racist events going toward?
Please let us know.
If it was Russia, China or Iran, the British state and intelligence agencies would say these threats from Jewish supremacists from the Zionist colony were Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI).
But since it is Jewish supremacists, we pretend we can’t hear.
And the reason for that is that we are in a subordinate relation to the Zionist colony in the Levant and its worldwide movement.

Israel has been committing genocide against the Palestinian people.
Piecemeal sanctions against settlement goods or individual ministers won't cut it.
Britain must end all trade, all arms sales, and all support for Israel's economy of occupation, apartheid and genocide.
Four Israeli military bulldozers, backed by heavily armed forces, are destroying the Palestinian village of Al-Taban in Masafer Yatta right now.
Homes and livelihoods are being demolished as we speak.
The BBC knows exactly what it’s doing here.
It mentions the assaults but leaves out that the victims are migrant women and girls, and that the perpetrators include both Ceuta Spanish locals and migrants. That’s not a small detail.
