I met one of my followers who is nursing a sick father.
The father is a prominent businessman.
The father has been battling diabetes and hypertension, and since mid-year, he has become extremely ill.
He was admitted to the ICU, then the HDU. He had a clot in his brain, and his kidneys failed.
He was later discharged and has to go for dialysis; he has an NG tube for feeding. The family has employed 2 nurses per shift, 24/7, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, and a psychotherapist.
The son is heavily exhausted, and I could see it when he narrated the situation to me.
So far, he has spent Ksh 8 million, and there is a chance it will go to 10 million.
We underestimate how much nursing our parents is an exhausting experience.
It is why I ask you,
Why would you spend your 30s and 40s creating wealth, then blow all of it in your 50s and 60s treating preventable diseases?
The best gift you can give to your children is to let them experience their adulthood without worrying about your deteriorating health.
Start fixing your lifestyle now. Don't wait to do it in your 50s.
@kamukamafredie@EchoduOfficial You leave us alone, Elwelu is our own why would you want to separate him from teso.
You want to humiliate iteso and expect us to keep mute.??
Last evening we received news of the arrest of our brother Lt Gen Peter Elwelu over security related allegations by UPDF. The news of a possible insurgency brewing in Teso have taken many people in the region by shock.
Since last evening, I have been receiving several phone calls from several opinion and Party leaders in Teso and Eastern Uganda about this matter of grave concern.
Aware of our turbulent history, We Together with other senior leaders, have embarked on a consultation with responsible institutions to ascertain the details and magnitude of the said matter. We have also informed H.E the President about the concerns of the majority of people in Teso.
For now, on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Eastern Uganda, we call upon the population in Teso and Uganda at large to remain calm as we continue engaging the responsible authorities on this matter of public interest.
Finally, as leaders and the people of Teso, we look forward to a speedy and transparent inquiry into these matters while urging the members of the public to desist from making unnecessary inflammatory statements to alarm the community in the region .
For God and my Country
How to marry a wife in Nigeria.
1. Go to your parents and tell them that you want to marry your girlfriend (which they must have known about before), and seek their permission to discuss your plans with her parents or other relevant people.
2. Once they grant you permission, you tell your girlfriend to inform her family that you will be visiting them.
3. After she tells them, go to see them alone (they must have known you before then) and politely tell them your intentions, letting them know that you have also discussed it with your parents. Her mother doesn't have to be present throughout your discussion with her father.
4. After discussing with him, her father can invite her and her mother to join you.
5. He will then tell them what you said, and ask his daughter if she is willing to be your wife.
6. Once she says yes, her father will then ask you to come with your people after he informs his kindred about your intentions to marry his daughter.
7. Then his kindred will obtain their marriage list and send it to him.
8. On the day of your second official visit, you may choose to go with your close friend, brother, or even your parents for a proper introduction, and the list may be provided to them on that day, or sent to them later.
Note that what both of your parents (hers and yours) are expected to do after you inform them is to secretly conduct some vetting and ask questions about both of you, your family background, history, etc., from others.
After all this has been done, you can then decide to propose to her (if you wish), because it's all a public show if you ask me.
Regardless, if all that has been done, is she going to humiliate you publicly by rejecting your proposal?
The answer is No.
So, if you're the type of man that fancies all those "serenren", make sure that you follow the right steps.
Stop being a sissy by ignoring your parents, her parents, and proposing to a woman publicly.
It's unafrican, it's disrespectful and it makes you look like you were not properly raised in that light.
End.
Some parents will do everything to raise independent children, until those children actually become independent and start making decisions they do not agree with.
Suddenly, the child they taught to think for themselves is disrespectful, the child they encouraged to dream is becoming stubborn, and the child they raised to stand on their own two feet is reminded that, after everything they have sacrificed, they still have no right to make certain decisions without parental approval.
This is where many of us struggle with parenting because we have learnt how to raise children, but we have not learnt how to relate to them when they become adults.
When they are 7, your word is largely law because they need your guidance and protection, but when they turn 27, you cannot continue to run their lives and affairs with the same authority and expect them to develop the confidence to make their own decisions.
Yet, many Nigerian parents struggle with this transition because we have been taught that parental authority is permanent and that a child who truly respects their parents must continue to obey them, even when that child is now an independent adult.
“Who is this person you are bringing home?”
“Why are you leaving that job without consulting me?”
“I didn't train you to become a musician.”
“As long as I am alive, you will not marry from that family.”
"Whatever I say is law. I am the god you can see on earth."
And when the child dares to disagree, we bring out the familiar weapon: “After everything I sacrificed for you, is this how you want to repay me?”
My dear parent, your sacrifices were real, and your children should appreciate them, but sacrifice is not a lifetime debt that gives you permanent ownership of another person's decisions.
Think of a mother bird that spends her time feeding, protecting and preparing her young for life outside the nest; if she continues to prevent them from flying because she is afraid they might fall, she is no longer preparing them for life but now keeping them dependent on her.
And that is where some of us get parenting wrong because we spend years teaching our children how to live, yet we struggle to accept that the final goal is for them to learn how to live without needing our permission for every single decision.
Your adult child can love you and still disagree with you, respect you and still choose a different career path, listen to your advice and still decide to marry someone you would not have chosen for them.
And when they make mistakes, as adults inevitably will, please let home remain a place where they can seek comfort and counsel without being humiliated with “I told you so” or being reminded that their independence is proof of ingratitude.
Parenting does not end when your child becomes an adult, but the nature of the relationship must change because you are no longer responsible for making every decision on their behalf.
You must learn to offer wisdom without demanding blind obedience.
You must learn to express concern without resorting to emotional blackmail.
You must learn to accept that sometimes your child will make a decision you disagree with and still have the right to make it.
If your child can only exercise their adulthood when they agree with you, then you have not raised an independent person; you have raised someone who has learnt to confuse obedience with love and parental approval with personal responsibility.
Our responsibility as parents is not to raise children who will need our permission forever, but to raise adults who can make sound decisions, take responsibility for their choices and still know that they have a home in our hearts, even when their paths differ from ours.
May the Almighty make it easy for us.
Why is it so difficult for you men to accept or understand that women do not love men, and are not supposed to?
If you're looking for women that will love you, you'll continue to hate women because they'll always disappoint you in that.
Love is what God commands men to show to their wives.
Respect is what God command women to show to their husbands.
That is why a man is commanded to provide for & protect his wife.
And he does that for years without seeing his wife as useless to him.
Is this also true if the reverse was the case?
A woman does not have a fixed character.
It's men that mostly have a fixed character.
Who a man is today when he's broke, is who he most certainly would be when he's rich.
Money was the only difference; not his character.
And so, this is why femininity is malleable and masculinity is shrewd.
How you lead a woman is how she will most likely follow.
And as you're leading her, you're remolding her thinking, and by extension, her character.
But that character needs a solid foundation- good parental upbringing, for you to start from.
If the foundation is fairly good, you'd have less stress leading her right.
If the foundation is poor, you'd have more stress leading her right.
The latter would largely depend on your level of tolerance and how forgiven you are.
And that's why I always say that when you choose your wife, you have chosen your destiny.
End.
You want me to be giving you monthly allowance because you're my "girlfriend".
But you can't even type properly to show that you're educated.
It's my money that you want to use to buy wig to cover your komkom head.
"I 1nt 2 no ow much u wl b giving mi as gf"
😂 😂 😂
End.
After we left NYSC and started working, my wife and I stopped cohabiting.
Because she was back to her house and I was squatting with my friends.
But she would visit on Saturdays or Sundays then return same day.
I never sent her transport money.
She would take danfo and bike the rest.
But she never failed to bring me cooked food each time she visited.
Shishi, I will not give her.
And she never complained.
She was only praying for me to be on my own, and be ready to marry her.
I went to my father to tell him that I wanted to marry my wife.
My father: "Is it that same girl that everyone knows in the village and you were taking to my house in the village whenever you liked?"
Me: yes daddy.
My father: have you gone to see her people?
Me: yes daddy.
My father: you have my blessings, my son.
I proposed to her in that same apartment that I was squatting with my friends.
She accepted, but told me that I had to get a better job and my own apartment.
God was merciful and I did exactly that.
When I started seeing money, I told her that I wanted to buy a car.
She advised me to buy a land, instead.
I didn't listen to her.
Anyways, I regret not listening to her till date.
But she's my lovely wife now.
A wife that I am so proud of.
Some of you men..
The only thing that your girlfriends visit you with, is a shaved toto.
And you'll spend a lot of money.
Otherwise, you will hardly see her again.
Some of you, your girlfriends will not want to visit you when they're on their period.
Because they have nothing else to offer you.
End.
It is always the FAT man in the supermarket queue with a large bottle of soda in his shopping basket and an envelope of omeprazole in his pocket.
