We look forward to mobilising the partnerships to scale up the availability, access and quality of food.
We must move from commitment to action. We are honoured to partner with @UKinKenya in delivering impact.

Yesterday evening, Kenya Red Cross received a humanitarian aid consignment from the Government of Slovakia through @SlovakAid at JKIA.
CS for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano, who expressed her deep respect for the work of Kenya Red Cross, attended the handover alongside the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár and Slovak Ambassador to Kenya Maroš Mitrík.
The consignment, comprising medical rescue (trauma) bags and foldable camping beds, was received by Kenya Red Cross Deputy Secretary General–Programmes Joe Mbalu.
Speaking during the handover, H.E. Juraj Blanár commended Kenya Red Cross for its humanitarian work and commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
Receiving the donation, Joe Mbalu expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Slovakia for their support, noting that the assistance was being received on behalf of the people and communities served by Kenya Red Cross across the country.
Flooding in Tana River County remains a severe but underreported crisis.
Across Kenya, the March-May rains have affected 85,993 households across 41 counties, displacing 18,587, with 355 water sources destroyed and 38,955 acres of crops wiped out.
In the Tana Delta, entire villages are cut off. Miliki, Majaliwa and Onido are fully marooned. Water levels at Idsowe Bridge remain high, worsening downstream flooding. Farms are submerged. Livelihoods are gone.
Response teams have reached 2,722 households with emergency household items and hygiene support but many areas remain inaccessible.
Following a fire incident reported at around 3:30am at Utumishi Girls Academy in Nakuru County, Kenya Red Cross responded to support the ongoing emergency response.
Our first responders, @EMS_Kenya ambulance crew and our psychosocial support personnel are currently on the ground supporting affected students alongside other responders and relevant authorities.
Search and recovery operations following the building collapse in Olenairi, Ngong, Kajiado County, have officially concluded.
All individuals who had been trapped beneath the rubble were successfully recovered during the multi-agency operation.
Kenya Red Cross teams remained on-site throughout the operation, supporting response efforts and standing with the affected families during this difficult time.
When they are not responding to disasters, they are busy preparing for the next.
As usual, I am inspired by the commitment of @KenyaRedCross response teams all over the country.
Serve one another.
Kenya Red Cross continues to strengthen the capacity of its Aqua Search and Rescue (A-SAR), ensuring responders are ready to act fast and effectively during mass water related emergencies.
A-SAR team comprising of members from the Lower Eastern, Central, and Western Kenya has successfully completed a three-day training on boat handling, navigation and use for water rescue missions.
The training focused on practical, hands-on skills simulating real life emergency situations.
This exercise is part of ongoing Preparedness for Effective Response (PER) activities aimed at enhancing the Red Cross Action Teams (RCATs) aqua rescue capabilities in Kenya.
"Know Them"
For many people, water is a place to unwind, a space for fun and relaxation. But for Ibrahim Mohammed, it is also a place where things can go wrong in seconds. That reality has driven him for years to do everything he can to ensure fewer families experience the pain of losing someone to drowning.
Ibrahim is one of our Aqua Rescue team members who has dedicated his time and skills to saving lives. For him, this path did not begin with training or ambition; it started with a moment he has never forgotten.
Years ago, he watched someone drown. In that moment, he felt completely helpless, unsure of how to respond. The experience stayed with him. It was not just painful; it became the reason he chose to act.
Instead of letting that moment define him, Ibrahim turned it into purpose.
He went on to train as a diver, learning not only how to respond to emergencies but also how to recognize and reduce the risks that lead to them. Along the way, his perspective shifted. Rescue work remained important, but preventing those emergencies became even more meaningful.
“I realized that saving a life does not always start in the water,” he says. “Sometimes, it starts with knowledge.”
Today, Ibrahim spends much of his free time teaching people how to swim and how to respond in emergency situations. He works with both children and adults, helping them build confidence in the water while equipping them with practical lifesaving skills.
Hezbon Odhiambo: If you’re caught up in a building and its flooded, it is advisable to turn off the main power source, go to the top most floor and ask for help; don’t use lifts

Following the advisory by @MeteoKenya, our specialized team of divers is on standby, ready to respond whenever called upon.
We urge everyone to stay safe during this period.
Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters, keep away from riverbanks, open fields, and trees during storms, and always follow official updates and guidance.
In case of any emergency, call our toll-free number 1199.
Stay alert. Stay safe.
Drought continues to push millions to the brink but communities are not alone.
In Milimani, Kiangwe, Basuba, Mangai, Mararani, Timboni and Chimburu in Lamu County, the Kenya Red Cross, with support from Muslim Food Bank, has delivered food assistance to 836 households, alongside 50 households reached in Kwale County.
Over 3.3 million people across Kenya are still facing the effects of drought.
Severe flooding has hit parts of Kenya as heavy rains caused rivers to overflow in Nairobi and other counties.
Aqua Rescue teams from @KenyaRedCross were on the ground over the weekend, rescuing people as floodwaters swept through homes and communities.
Nearly 30,000 households have been affected since the long rains began in late February.
#KenyaFloods
Today we join Kenyans in mourning Samuel Wanyonyi Wangila, an expert aqua rescuer with @KenyaRedCross who died from electrocution during a search for the body of a missing boy around Nyayo Highrise, Kibera.
He will be buried on Sat. March 14, in Naitiri, Bungoma County.
Many volunteers' work go unnoticed ndio maana kama #Brekko tunachukua hii fursa kuwatambua especially during disasters kama floods.
#SautiYaMnyonge
As IFRC, we mourn alongside @KenyaRedCross the loss of volunteer Samuel Wanyonyi Wangila, who gave his life in the line of duty. For 15 years, Samuel served with courage and compassion, always stepping forward for others.
His legacy of service and bravery will continue to inspire us all. Our thoughts are with his family and the KRCS team during this difficult time.
Samuel’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.
From time to time, our responders take part in different simulation exercises alongside multi-agency teams.
These simulations range from road traffic accidents and fire outbreaks to conflict scenarios. They help our teams sharpen their skills, strengthen coordination, and stay ready for any emergency.
By training together, we ensure that when real emergencies happen, our responders can act quickly, safely and seamlessly with other agencies to save lives.
