Congratulations to Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Beatrice Chebet for winning gold medals and to our golden girl Faith Kipyegon for securing silver at the World Athletics Championships in Japan, a proud moment as Kenya’s medal count continues to rise and our flag flies high on the global stage.
Today at St. Mark’s Njoro, I presented my half-term development report to opinion leaders and residents during a meeting hosted by Area MP Hon. Charity Kathambi.
The session, attended by several Nakuru leaders, underscored our shared commitment to fast-tracking project implementation for the socio-economic transformation of our County. My performance scorecard, anchored in a transformative agenda, highlighted progress in health, education, infrastructure, water, trade, agriculture, youth empowerment, and enterprise.
In education, we disbursed Sh40.77 million in bursaries to 9,615 students, awarded five full scholarships, and expanded our Uji program to 9,177 learners in 130 ECDE centers, alongside construction of new classrooms.
In health, works are underway at Njoro Level 4 Hospital with Sh76 million allocated, Lusiru Dispensary has been operationalized, and facilities at Mutarakwa, Piave, Njokerio, and Lare have been upgraded.
On enterprise and trade, we rolled out Sh8.95 million in loans to groups, launched a Sh30 million Boda Boda Fund, and are constructing a Sh500 million CAIP facility in Ngongeri, Egerton, as well as new markets in Njoro.
In agriculture, we have vaccinated over 10,000 animals, inseminated 2,263 cows, distributed seedlings including 38,384 avocado and 1.5 million pyrethrum, and boosted fish farming with 16,200 fingerlings.
Our water coverage in Njoro has grown from 23% to 53.5% through drilling, equipping, and solarizing boreholes, laying 69.8 km of pipes, and installing water tanks. Infrastructure has improved with 284 km of graded roads, four new bridges, 23 streetlights, and boda boda sheds.
To empower youths, we distributed equipment worth Sh96 million and will launch the Governor’s Cup tournament this month.
We also welcome National Government projects, including a 340-bed hostel at Njoro TTI, affordable housing in Ngongeri, the dualling of the Rironi–Mau Summit Highway, and the construction of ESP markets in Nessuit, Kihingo, and Mauche.
Met with MCAs to strategize on effective project implementation for improved service delivery in this financial year, with a focus on infrastructure, particularly access roads and street lighting.
We discussed how to improve our roads despite the challenges of heavy rainfall and how to maximize output within available resources through efficiency. These efforts will ease farmers’ access to markets, support businesses in safer well-lit towns, and deliver tangible development to every ward.
This opportunity is open to all groups and cooperatives, and you are welcome to visit the Directorate of Cooperative Development for guidance and support.
Held an interactive meeting with the National Government Administration Officers from Nakuru County convened by County Commissioner, Dr Loyford Kibaara to explore ways of working together in executing cross cutting functions between two levels of Government.
During the meeting, we agreed to collaborate better on licensing of liquor outlets, fighting the proliferation of gangs in Nakuru City and other urban areas, installation of security lights to boost security, coordinating implementation of projects, planning of towns and enforcement of gambling guidelines to stop illegal groups preying on innocent people to rob them off money.
I urged NGAO team to work closely with our Sub County and Ward teams in the service of residents of Nakuru, solving land problems and promoting peace and unity in Nakuru County. Whereas we are distinct governments, we are obligated to work together in the service of our people.
Present were Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, Political Advisor Joseph Rutto, Deputy County Commissioners, Assistant County Commissioners, Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs.
Congratulations Faith Kipyegon and Dorcus Ewoi on once again putting Kenya on the world map with your 1-2 wins at the World Athletics Championships.
With her third world title in a row in the 1500m, home girl Faith has proven she's the greatest in these times.
Congratulations once again!
