@WarnieDT@FanFooty I remember I interviewed both you and Paul back in 2011 when I was in journalism school and I was writing an article on fantasy sports. Small snippet from that piece.
Even back then Paul had pessimism about the fantasy market had already matured.
@AvidCommentator Imagine you lose your job and you can’t get a job quickly and decide to sell shares for eg to fund your life/savings and you get whacked with a 30% minimum - makes more sense to go straight on govt teet (intentional) than be self sufficient
Really disappointed by the overreach of taxing Capital Gains at a minimum of 30% despite the taxpayers' marginal tax rate.
A naked grab, and ignoring the fairness of assessing tax based on the taxpayers' marginal tax rate.
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory
#Budget2026
Did the government forget that there are plenty of young people who invest in shares?
These same young people are worse off under the new settings and will be paying more tax, not less.
I can understand going after negative gearing but why wasn’t an exception made for shares?
@TheKouk@cotality_au Do you have any hypotheses on why Melbourne price growth is so slow? Can’t just be legislation, but maybe also a lot more apartments which don’t see as much capital growth?
Melbourne just seems to be incredibly undervalued.
@mayorquimby123@AlanKohler@abcnews Why do you need IR reform to create tax incentives? For example, payroll or company tax discounts if a firm employs people who reside in specific regional cities?
@mayorquimby123@AlanKohler@abcnews Why can’t we create incentives for companies to hire people remotely or on hybrid roles working from regional cities?
@NormanHermant@abcnews@ABCaustralia You should do a story on the guy who was bashed and died in hospital by someone who should have been in detention. It’s strange how there doesn’t seem to be the same community uproar or vigils going on for the victim?
@NormanHermant@shintemaster@metrotrains@metrotunnelvic What about off peak frequencies? Sunbury line currently can be up to 38 mins which is crazy. There’s no reason frequency couldn’t be better now. If they can currently do 10 mins in peak. Has nothing to do with the Metro Tunnel but lack of political will, staffing etc
@NormanHermant@metrotrains We couldn’t even properly deal with these EMI issues that have been known about for years. The health precinct facilities existed and were approved long before there was an agreed alignment of this tunnel. And for Tottenham Station, similar to the rest of the west. Safe seats.
@NormanHermant@ptv_official Remember when Cubic wrote to the government about the procurement process lacking rigour and warning this would cost taxpayers for years? Seems like we picked the dud over Cubic which has delivered great ticketing systems in many cities including Sydney https://t.co/MT6PX1FNIF
