@Akustics The archaic process is tremendously stressful. Outdated requirements. Contentious committees. Lack of support or direction. No clear path to completion. Especially difficult if your work directly affects something like patient care.

@AcademicChatter One thing that may help when reading is placing authors “in the room” with each other and understanding who they are and where they are coming from and who they are speaking to in addition to what they are saying. It took me a long time to do this.

@leannakal I love school, reading, learning, thinking, etc. I grad in May and will say the stress of the hoops (not the research itself) has caused mental and physical damage I may have forever. I wasn’t even happy submitting my diss. It’s tough. You have to do what’s right for you.

@JohnClaytn @DrKimSue One addiction treatment counselor told my patient that the EXTREME childhood abuse and trauma he experienced was just him “using excuses to still get high” and he’d “get clean when he stopped with the excuses.” This was within the last year. Not like 1976.
