I get frustrated when we talk to junior high kids about high school. The narrative is almost exclusively pushing towards college. Not enough focus and exposure to vocational or military options. College is not for everyone. #edchat
I told the sub that my class will be GREAT for him as I left at noon, and then I told him that if they aren’t....well, I’ve been with them for a year and a half, so I’m kinda like their mom now! 😂😂. The students cracked up and nodded as I departed! ❤️
I worked with a kid today who didn't know the difference between a flat head or phillips and had never used any kind of screwdriver in his life. Moments like that make me wonder what life skills we could be teaching instead of chasing the data tail.
My parents visited my classroom and we learned about the Vietnam War experience. I learned so much, and my kids were so respectful with their questions. One of my favorite days of teaching EVER!
