Happy Monday. It’s a new week but CNN and MSNBC still don’t have an on-air trans contributor even though trans people are being blamed for the election results and are Day 1 targets of the incoming Trump Administration.
During the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games #HIV#AIDS activists distributed a flyer that said "PLAY SAFE" in multiple languages. The IOC was not amused and we had to be stealth to avoid getting sued. What a blast. (We also snuck condoms into the village.)
@Tyler_A_Harper It reads like a verbose version of the feel tank's motto "Depression? Maybe it's political." But the basic message is a good one -- find fault in structures not individuals.
"I need to do something though." Yes. Absolutely. and that may or may not come through your writing. You may need to write... and then go volunteer. But it's totally ok if your writing is not all things to all people at this moment. Don't try to make it so. Let it be what it is.
This morning, members of ACT UP NY went to Fire Island’s Trailblazers Park, a place where Queer and Trans heroes are meant to be honored, and raised two flags: one for Cecilia Gentili, a heroic activist that we tragically lost in February, and another for Queer Palestinians.
As expected, students have been galvanized by @Columbia's crackdown on peaceful protesters. Hundreds have rushed to take the place of their classmates who were arrested on the East Lawn and have now taken over the West Lawn.
