It sounds like Campbell is all locked up, so assuming G is addressed, here’s my #Oilers priority list:
1.Re-sign Kulak
2.Get a top 6 winger (Kane, Giroux, Strome, Kubalik)
3.Go long term with McLeod
4.Get good value out of JP
5.Get some physicality (Ritchie, Zadorov)
@stevezieskidoo With this term and his and Ekholm’s age, he is probably going to be a 2LD at some point. Feels very similar to the previous Kulak extension, except now we have less depth and aren’t blocking a high upside prospect to play, so I think I really like it
@BlueBullet1981 Excellent stuff again, thanks!! I have loved all 3 D pairs, maybe it’s been the system helping them, but they’ve all been phenomenal. I think at this point the biggest question mark is who goes on Drai’s wing, and who’s on the shutdown 3rd line. Will be interesting to see
@KevinMcCurdy While I’m down to try it, I’m not so sure this is a great argument with context. The majority (I’d think) of Ekholms time with another LD is right after a PP, so you’ve got those effects at play boosting his stat shares. 96/2 & 25/14 should be worth a trial. Gotta try something
@Stevenbradleyb@coopsie39 I think Nuge drops out. Howard seems like a good fit with McDavid and Savoie seems like a good fit with Draisaitl. Hyman has size for 1RW and you can also give Podkolzin a look at 2LW if you feel small, but Drai is probably big enough to play with Mangiapane and Savoie.
@oilersgm2 I think they are hoping Nuge becomes that, and I think he can be. That leaves his spot in the top 6 for Howard, who in theory could be a perfect fit with McDavid. Then Savoie should be a perfect fit with Draisaitl given their skillset. You can put bigger bodies on the other wing.
@OilerAlert Honestly, I don’t even think Skinner, Savoie, Akey and a 1st is enough. I’m not sure they can put together a package good enough with their current assets. Maybe if Ekholm is moved and those assets are then flipped? This is the problem with trying to get an elite goalie.
@Kgill39 I think the bigger question is why would Pittsburgh even want Nurse? They’re the only team trying to get worse, so they add a top pair D? That makes no sense. Seth Jones was moved, but to a contender. This isn’t that at all
@NHL_Sid He’s an interesting one for a few reasons. He played through significant injuries, which is why his numbers above tanked. Even before they tanked, he wasn’t “elite” however, how much does an elite shot factor in? The oilers can’t finish and he can, which is very valuable.
@nielsonTSN1260 1. Nuge and Skinner are the dynamic duo this series, they’ve both been fantastic.
2. Special teams getting hot at the right time is huge, and it’s about time. Ekholm will only help in this department too.
3. Knoblauch is an incredible coach. He really doesn’t get enough credit.
@BlueBullet1981 While Nurse-Ekholm may work, I really don’t trust the stats. I feel a large chunk of that TOI is end of PP time when they get the boost of “5v5” time with sustained possession and/or the guy in the box hasn’t joined the play yet. Don’t recall them starting the game as a pair too.
@McCurdy1987 Pretty sure their algorithm takes into account recent regular season results which are incredibly inaccurate given this current team. Every model I’ve seen has had them as underdogs, which probably created some nice edges for the betting folk
@Schmides31 “Truth” hahahaha. I’m so sorry you’re blinded by whatever this is. You’ve let your emotions be manipulated and that’s not really your fault. I hope you find your way in the future to see and comprehend other viewpoints, but that’ll be up to you. Good luck soldier!
@Schmides31@heavyoilcontry The NHL goalie agrees with me and is making the same point. At the very least it’s a valid argument, and I truly hope you aren’t so blinded by emotion or arrogance or whatever that is to see that, but you never know
"You could argue that he didn't allow him to have a shot on the net cause this shot wasn't going in the net." - Devan Dubnyk
What do you think of the game winner in Game 3?

@nielsonTSN1260 Wasn’t Nurse one of the two guys who stayed on the ice after a 2 minute plus shift? He was gassed on a 4 on 2. This is one example where we blame the guy who is at least present, even if he does something dumb in an impossible spot. Blame him on the other goals but this one meh
@Schmides31@heavyoilcontry Me thinks you need to reconsider what “getting walked” should be. He forced a shot about 3 inches from the redline when the guy was still in front of him. By your logic every time someone goes behind the net the goalie got walked haha
@Schmides31@heavyoilcontry Cut from the same cloth. It’s only over committing if you get walked, which he didn’t because he didn’t have time to do that. He forced a very bad angle shot as opposed to being passive and giving him multiple holes to shoot at
