It’s my great pleasure to be in our CSSA committee and got the opportunity to work with other amazing people to organise and facilitate this tech trip. Here's (part of) our committee! Special shout-out to the Industry Rep/Upcoming President Matthew Chen for his effort!
Just wrapped up a fantastic day with a tech trip to Sydney. First time in the past few years, @anucssa brought the trip back and this time we visited @googledownunder, @AkunaCapital, and @Atlassian. We took an amazing group photo at Google!
For years I've been trying to get any proctoring company to agree to a study where I try to cheat. None have agreed. I've had legal advice not to do such a study without permission from the vendors.
I'm delighted to share that someone else has done one: https://t.co/VGN5dw7Mtc
CSSA AGM is Friday week 6 (Fri 2 Sep) @ 7pm, CSIT N101 (next to the common room). Dinner provided!
Also, if you wanted to nominate for a committee position, you've got about... 20 minutes left. Get to it! https://t.co/yQEArXHUxj

Enjoy Bush Week!

Welcome (back) for Semester 2, everyone! Wherever you're at and whatever your plans are, hope you all get off to a good start.
We've got a bunch of events lined up for this sem!

The theme is social entrepreneurship, but feel free to make whatever you want or just hang out!
Here's a list of project ideas: https://t.co/JNp1zLftll
If you have any cool ideas or want some advice on where to start, just reach out on the day!
Again, without seeing what the final deployment will look like, we (frustratingly) can't be sure about anything, but Cipherise's publicly available demos feature the notoriously inaccessible randomly rearranging keypad, among other "brilliant innovations".
This has been the word on the street for a long time, but with a public announcement like this they must be getting close to rollout...
Sounds like there's still no good plan for non-mainstream devices, not always having a phone with you, OR older devices without biometrics.
Experience with the Proctorio saga shows that "don't worry, we'll figure out a solution for <people in X situation>" is never promising, especially when they're still yet to come up with said solution a year later.
