بين جميع وزراء حكومة الدكتور كامل إدريس يبدو أن الوزير الذي قدم حتى الآن أعمالا تدل على فهم ورؤية وإرادة حقيقية للإنجاز هو الوزير الشاب المهندس أحمد الدرديري غندور وزير التحول الرقمي والاتصالات.

لم نسمع به من قبل بوصفه مجاهدا سابقا في الجنوب ولا ثوريا برز في ميادين الاعتصام ولا صاحب حضور سياسي أو شعارات صاخبة سبقته إلى المنصب.

إنه كفاءة سودانية طبيعية وصلت إلى موقع المسؤولية لا برافعة القبيلة ولا بقوة السلاح ولا لتحقيق مصالح من رشحه أو دفع به إلى المنصب.

ولو كانت اختيارات الوزراء في حكومات بلادنا تقوم على معايير الكفاءة والمقدرة على العطاء لخرجنا جميعا من هذه الحفرة منذ زمن طويل ولما أصبحنا رهائن لسماسرة السياسة وأصحاب المصالح والنفوذ.

Who actually depends on timely visa renewals, EADs, and status extensions just to keep working and feed their family?

❌Not the undocumented.
❌Not the criminal illegal alien
❌Not the low-skilled shadow labor market.

It’s the physician, the scientist, the engineer, the professor, the PhD student — the ones who followed every rule, paid every fee, passed every vetting, and built their lives around doing everything right.

⚠️ The more skilled you are, the more regulated your profession, and the more your life depends on legal compliance, the more exposed you become to harm.

The less your life depends on lawful paperwork, the less immediate impact you feel.

That is the perversity of this policy. It achieves the opposite of its stated goal. In practice, real criminals and genuine security risks may linger longer in the country simply because their applications are set aside, while compliant, high-skilled immigrants are paralyzed, stripped of work, and pushed out of status.

This is not “securing the border.” It is something else entirely.

الخطوة دي معناها إنك قريب جداً تقدر تفتح شغلك في ولاية الخرطوم وبعدها في بقية الولايات (شركة ،مصنع ، دكان…)وتسجل نشاطك من بيتك عبر التلفون 📱
تسجل، وتدفع الرسوم (زي النفايات وغيرها) إلكترونياً بدون ما تمشي لأي مكتب أو تتعامل مع جبايات.

This is unacceptable on multiple levels.

Yes, national security matters, but indiscriminately delaying visa renewals for physicians who have already been living and practicing in the U.S. for years makes no sense. Blocking new physicians from these 39 countries only deepens the damage.

This is not just an immigration issue, it is a direct hit to patient care in America.

Many of these doctors serve in medically underserved areas, where wait times are already long and access is fragile. When they are suddenly pulled out of the system, it is U.S. citizens who pay the price with delayed care, missed diagnoses, and worsening outcomes.

I have lived this reality. I went through prolonged administrative processing twice. During my absence, my patients in North Dakota were the ones who suffered.

We cannot claim to address a physician shortage while simultaneously sidelining the very doctors keeping the system afloat.

There must be a clear, immediate exception for physicians already serving in the U.S.

This needs to end.

On National Doctor’s Day, remember this: not every doctor is celebrating.

Some are spending today in fear, stripped of dignity, watching everything they built begin to unravel, not because they failed or broke the law, but because a USCIS pause is excluding them based on where they were born (Nigeria, Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Cuba, and others).

These are physicians who followed the law, were vetted, did everything the right way, and believed in the promise of America. They completed residency and fellowship, passed their board exams, trained here, paid taxes, served veterans, staffed rural hospitals, and cared for underserved communities for years.

And now they are being told that none of it matters, simply because of the country of their birth.

Instead of celebrating, many are wondering whether, in a few weeks, they will still be able to feed their children, keep health insurance, remain in their homes, or hold on to careers they spent decades building.

That is the reality behind the white coat for thousands this year.
