WMBF News Today is officially an Emmy Award-winning morning show. Our coverage of the 2025 snowstorm brought home first place last night in Atlanta.

For this morning team, this moment means so much. People move on, chapters change, but nights and memories like this are the ones you carry forever.

It’s never been about the awards. But this one feels different. Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real. What a special way to close this chapter with a team that became family.

Most importantly, thank you. Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes every single morning. Every person on this team brings something unique and special, and we hope you can feel that connection every time you watch us start the day together.

Today was a bittersweet day for our morning show as we said goodbye to someone who’s been the very heart of this show for the last five years, our Morning Executive Producer, Anya Carney.

Over those five years, Anya has helped transform our morning show into what it is today, earning multiple awards and helping lead our team through every challenge that’s come our way.

But beyond the shows and the scripts — Anya has been like family. She’s the one who’s always there to help, to encourage, and to remind us that even on the toughest mornings, laughter makes it better.

It’s hard to Imagine this show without her, we’re so proud and excited for her next chapter.

Anya, thank you for the best five years on this morning show. I love you to pieces and can’t wait to see you thrive in your next adventure. Please don’t be a stranger. We will miss you here in Myrtle Beach. @wmbfnews @anyacarneytv

OMG.

[Andrew Dockery @AndrewWMBF]

Wow! What a day!

@jamiearnoldWMBF, @anyacarneytv, Sarah Pettigrew and I took home two awards for Are You Cirrus, including best podcast!

I also took home Weathercaster of the Year at the Radio Television Digital News Association Awards in Charlotte today. I’m beyond thankful. There are many others who deserve the recognition for their hard work. Just blessed that someone thinks I deserve this one. 😭

A big shoutout to our awesome @wmbfnews team for winning BIG. I’m just grateful to be their teammates.

Tonight is a sobering episode of ‘Are You Cirrus’ as we tackled as much as we can about Helene.

We talk about the meteorology, how this happened, the warning ahead of the storm, the misinformation being shared and how strong the people in the Appalachian Mountains are.

Listen now or catch the premiere on YouTube at 7:30. https://t.co/2cQOKQcNdR #Helene #ncwx
