OMB Director Russ Vought is putting a stop to one of the biggest misuses of taxpayer dollars: nonprofits receiving government funding while engaging in leftist political activities. He’s trying to bring transparency and accountability to a system that has operated with little scrutiny for decades.

This is different from the Medicaid fraud investigations being done by VP Vance and Dr Oz. So far they are exposing fraud with hospice providers, child-care centers, and autism services.

What’s emerging here is a much bigger question: how many taxpayer-funded nonprofits are operating as de facto leftist political organizations while maintaining nonprofit status?

For decades, Washington has funded a vast nonprofit ecosystem that often engages in advocacy, lobbying, voter mobilization, media campaigns, and partisan political activity under the banner of “public service.”

Every Cabinet secretary should conduct a top-to-bottom review of nonprofits receiving grants through their agency and publish a public list identifying which organizations are primarily carrying out political activities rather than their stated charitable mission.

1. Late on Thursday night @FBI agents landed at New York Stewart International Airport with Mohammad al Saadi in handcuffs. Al Saadi, the leader of an Iran-backed Iraqi terror group is allegedly responsible for more than 20 attacks across Europe and Canada and for planning attacks in the U.S..
