#OnThisDay in 1979 the A9 Cromarty Bridge was opened to traffic. One of #Scotland's longest bridges, it was designed by Crouch & Hogg and built by Fairclough at a cost of £5 million. The bridge was built as part of an upgrading of the route north of #Inverness.

Kessock Bridge at Inverness was completed in August 1982. It was built by the Cleveland Bridge RDL Kessock Consortium. Crouch & Hogg and Arup were involved in the development and design of the bridge.
It remains one of Scotland's most impressive bridges.

Just home from a @communityhydro meeting where it was noted that after 10 years operation, had we been paying 'industry' rates we'd have paid £5k in community benefit by now.
In fact we've paid over £400k.
We think more people, especially politicians, should be aware of that.
