Physical activity is the most effective intervention available for promoting brain health and longevity. Recent research demonstrates that regular exercise, even in modest amounts, is effective for enhancing brain volume, improving memory, and reducing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases. Beyond its cognitive benefits, moderate physical activity also contributes to extended lifespan and better overall health outcomes.
Even regular walking has shown to have powerful impacts on brain structure and function:
*️⃣Activity levels equivalent to 4,000 steps per day have been linked to measurable increases in gray matter and white matter volumes (PMID: 38073389)
*️⃣A 2011 study showed that 40 minutes of walking, three times per week lead to a 2% increase in hippocampal volume over one year, effectively reversing 1–2 years of age-related atrophy and enhancing spatial memory performance (PMID: 21282661).
*️⃣A more recent study suggests that activity levels equivalent to walking just under 3 hours daily for the least active populations could extend lifespan by 11 years on average (doi: 10.1136/bjsports-2024-108125).
Even walking is an accessible, non-pharmacological intervention for promoting brain health, reducing disease risk, and enhancing longevity.
A new patient who came to me said he was promised a liver detox to 'improve functions' of cirrhosis liver. He spent ~ 200,000 INR (2333 USD) for 20 days of Ayurvedic therapy. And luckily escaped severe complications.

@TheCineprism The scene (entire) and the character I always loved more than from the books... all the books and Alan Rickman as Prof. Snape... Always...
@varunnn_g@Kalpaavrikshaa I was searching for The Gripper! Very few supporters... this pen was a rage in my school and my handwriting, for some reason, always looked different while using it.
I am really happy to see that many have mentioned me as one of the reasons why they quit drinking alcohol. Thank you!
Please read this quoted post and see the many logical reasons for abstaining from alcohol. Realizing that any amount of alcohol can harm your health is the most important. Even if you are not a regular drinker or a heavy drinker, the low levels of alcohol can still harm you - because it is a potent cancer causing substance.
Alcohol has no health benefits. The moment you consume it, your body goes into a frenzy to remove it from within. Even the energy is empty calories that just adds to your fat and poor metabolic health. Alcohol increases your blood pressure and damages your brain from the first sip.
Now the reason why I quit drinking alcohol was my patients. More so, their families. It is not easy to declare death in a 21 year old with brain bleeding due to binge drinking...
or tell parents of a 19 year old with jaundice so deep and liver failure so intense that they need to pull the plug on him, because his family went bankrupt trying to keep him alive on the ventilator...
or see terrifying and never before heard (in my life) bacteria and fungi feast on a 32 year old young dad's lung until even the ventilator gave out and it was lights out for him...
or see elderly parents take away the remains of their son to bury him. Life's biggest hurt is when a parent has to bury their child. After that, nothing else matters. There is nothing that can really hurt like that again.
Quitting alcohol helped me save money, provided me time to take care of my health, gave me the time that I could spend more with my family (me and wife go to the gym together) and overall, gave me hope that life is not short, but can be long, if you really held on to the steering instead of stepping on the gas.
Be. In. Control.
PS: Plugging in these two videos of mine for those interested. Please watch and share if you think this will help someone in need.

Humans have lost their inquisitiveness. All we want are answers curated exactly for our queries. There is an overreliance on AI. The worst issue is that we seek answers even for happenings which might have occurred a minute ago. No. AI is human made. IT WON'T KNOW WHAT WE FEED IT

Dear cricket lovers,
It just an IPL trophy. Not any of the World Cups... Not that even that would be an excuse for what happened... Somehow we have our priorities very wrong...

Know why I really like RaGa, the human being.
Because he is a kind man. It's that simple.
I don't know too many kind people, certainly not like RaGa. My own parents are not as kind as he is. Nor is anyone in my family.
Kindness is underrated. Kindness is paramount. Without kindness no quality matters. Not intellect, nor wisdom, nothing.
And I have to say it. It's the same reason I love Kejriwal. He is as kind as RaGa (if not more), as is Sisodia, as is Aatishi, as is Saurabh Bharadwaj, as are many many AAPians (and Congressis of course, and others).
Humanities this humanities that. You solved a couple of JEE questions man, you are no Carl Bosch. Loads of Indian STEM bros have no sense of proportion, no humility, no genuine curiosity, no self awareness or an ounce of self criticism. Obscene.
