It’s been a blast.
Attended four matches at World Cup 2026, visited great cities , but home tomorrow. Lots have asked if I am going on to Atlanta for the semi-final, but unfortunately I am not. Obviously , I have to get back to see my dad (who is still in hospital), but the plan was always to return at this stage as despite me attending the majority of England matches over the last few years I was priced out by the ludicrous ticket prices from FIFA.
For the semi-final and the final England supporters have undersubscribed their allocation .. let that sink in.. one of the best supported nations in the tournament undersubscribed for two of the biggest matches in the countries history and this is why.
As a member of the ESTC club with over 50 caps it would have cost me $8,000 to attend those two matches (face value) plus flights , plus accommodation (which is sky high) plus spending - a tournament which has cost me £12,000 already would’ve jumped to £12,000 extra for the last two matches - the cost to follow England at this WC from the opening match to the final is probably £30,000 and that’s for its most loyal supporters. Plus all tickets, even if we made it or not had to be paid for in full in January - straight after Christmas.
Anyone who isn’t a ESTC member and just buying tickets match by match on FIFA resale or ticket resale sites it’s probably between £60,000 - £100,000.
