China and Vietnam aren’t socialist success stories they grew because they ditched central planning for markets. Deng opened China to private business in 1978, Vietnam did the same in ‘86. That’s the growth driver, not socialism.

And “rich” is a stretch. China’s GDP per capita is $13k, Vietnam’s $4k. US is $85k. They’re still poor countries catching up, which is always faster than growing from an already-huge base.

Cuba and Venezuela never made that switch still centrally planned, still collapsed. That’s your actual socialism vs. socialism comparison.
