Todd Blanche has already shown us which client he intends to serve.

He secured extraordinary protection shielding Trump and his family from audits of past tax returns. He tried to create a $1.8 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund for Trump’s allies. And his Justice Department has already found ways to hand out seven-figure taxpayer-funded settlements benefiting people in Trump’s orbit.

Now Senate Republicans have put him in charge of the Justice Department.

Blanche is there for one reason and one reason only: to be Donald Trump’s henchman.

He is wholly unfit to serve as Attorney General.

And my Republican colleagues in the Senate knew it.

They knew he had already used the power of the Justice Department to protect Donald Trump and reward the people around him. They knew his loyalty was to one man, not the law. They knew exactly what he would do with even more power.

And they confirmed him anyway.

This was not a mistake. It was not carelessness. It was not a lapse in judgement. It was a conscious decision to place Donald Trump’s personal interests ahead of the rule of law.

Every Senator who cast that vote chose Donald Trump over the rule of law, and they should be ashamed of it.

Apparently all it takes to fix an economy is for Treasury Secretary Bessent to announce that it’s been fixed. 

The man worth $600 million is telling working Americans that the gap between rich and poor is “dead” while inflation is still 3.7% and the wealthiest 20% account for nearly 60% of consumer spending. 

And this is the guy Donald Trump put in charge of the Treasury.

Maybe that explains why this Administration keeps looking at an economy that is crushing working families and congratulating itself.
