(1/6) After hard work in @CUBRICcardiff , my first-author paper has been published (https://t.co/ObFevZIM0y)! This work is focused on the optimisation of the brain diffusion-relaxation MRI sequence with a physics-informed (machine) learning approach.
Happy to share our latest publication on neuroimaging biomarkers in migraine with aura presenting as a stroke mimic, with a focus on qualitative versus quantitative imaging approaches.

We present the LARGEST normative model of the brain’s white matter microstructure: 54,583 subjects, 4-91 yrs, 19 datasets. We derived lifespan centile curves for DTI FA, MD, RD, AD, detecting anomalies for dementia, and Mild Cognitive Impairment: https://t.co/1xDgqXN9Ao ⤵️
Back from the @ISMRM meeting in Cape Town. Thanks to everyone who came on to my poster presentation on Thursday morning.
Also, I am extremely happy and proud of Alessandra, who won the 3rd prize of the @wmsgISMRM . What a great honour, considering the huge level of other works
Everyone is welcome to come from 9:25 to 10:20 to my poster to discuss the use of free-water corrected DTI in a clinical trial to assess longitudinal white matter structural changes using a clinically compatible MRI acquisition protocol #ISMRM2026
Álvaro Planchuelo-Gómez (@aplanchu) will show his work “Uncovering hidden white matter changes using free water corrected DTI in a 3-month migraine clinical trial with fremanezumab”. Session 663-02, Row D, digital poster 5, at 9:25am.

Excited to share the “IMMUNO-CGRP Study”, a great multicenter effort exploring the migraine–immunity link, which I had the pleasure of designing and coordinating as Group Leader at IIS-Princesa with wonderful collaborators 🇪🇸🇬🇧

Back from Brussels, contributing as part of the European Academy of Neurology Board to strengthen neurology, research, and #BrainHealth policies across Europe.

Back from great #EHC2025 held in #Lisbon!! This year we had 11 #FHE sessions including a debate on screening for psychiatric & vascular conditions, graphical abstracts competition, working groups and opportunities #ean session. Glad to share the research from my emerging group!
Un placer asistir a la LXXVII #RASEN25@seneurologia en Sevilla 🧠✨
Inspiradoras ponencias Teresa Gómez-Isla, Francisco Sánchez- Madrid.
It has been a pleasure to participate in the RRFS-EAN & SNR Young Neurologists Session at the Romanian Congress of Neurology in Sinaia! 🌟 Inspiring discussions on sub-specialization and the vital role of physician-scientists. The future is bright for young neurologists! 🧠✨
Excited to share our new study in Journal of Neurology! 🇪🇸🇬🇧 A multicenter effort between Spain & UK. We explored anti-CGRP + immunomodulatory tx in #migraine

The evaluation of premonitory spontaneous and nitroglycerin triggered symptoms among patients with cluster headache and migraine potentially impacts headache management including treatment prediction and early intervention.

Premonitory symptoms are reported by approximately 80% of cluster headache (CH) patients.
•
Symptoms suggestive of hypothalamic involvement are present in approximately 30% of patients prior to an attack, underscoring the need of neuroimaging research.
•
The use of oxygen treatment is independently associated with the occurrence of premonitory symptoms.
•
The similarity between spontaneous and triggered CH premonitory symptoms and with migraine supports the shared biology of premonitory symptoms in these two entities.
•
Studying potential differences between premonitory symptoms within patients with cluster headache and comorbid migraine would be a useful next step to furthering understanding in this area.
