I will never understand abandonment mindset over the Deep South & Appalachia. These regions have the highest numbers of queer, trans, Black, and brown people living there compared to all other regions in the US. To give up on them is to hurt them even more than their govt is now.

And yeah, you can donate to some massive NGO that helps people get the care they need but, I promise you the most effective use of your dollars is to donate directly to a person living in these regions under unimaginably difficult circumstances

I need a lot more noise about what’s happening in East Palestine, OH. Yet ANOTHER enormous ecological disaster that will have implications on the health of all of us because we all collectively decided that the immediate well-being of working class rural people doesn’t matter.
