एक कहानी बताता हूँ। 2003-2004 में टीवी पर इसी तरह का बकवास चल रहा था कि अटल जी के सामने कोई विकल्प नहीं है। TINA फ़ैक्टर है। हमारे अज़ीज़ गाँव से आए थे और इसे सुनते ही भड़क गए। इतने ग़ुस्से में थे कि कहने लगे कि पत्रकारिता छोड़ो। पूछने पर उन्होंने कहा कि इस देश में पत्रकार की यह भाषा कैसे हो सकती है कि कोई विकल्प नहीं है। इसका मतलब है वह पत्रकार लोकतंत्र के लिए ख़तरा है। उसे कोई समझ नहीं है। मैं सन्न रह गया। अगली सुबह तक उनका ग़ुस्सा नहीं उतरा और TINA फ़ैक्टर का मज़ाक़ उड़ाने लगे।

1 जून को जब गुप्ता एग्ज़िट पोल पर वही लोफर एंकर खुश हो रहे थे कि विपक्ष नहीं बचा। तब मुझे उस दिन की डांट याद आई। उसी दिन मैंने एक वीडियो बनाया। उसका टाइटल था शाबाश विपक्ष। मेरे अज़ीज़ की डांट ने एक बात साफ़ कर दी थी कि जब विकल्प नहीं है तो वह लोकतंत्र ही नहीं है। सूरत और इंदौर में विकल्प ख़त्म किया गया। वहाँ लोकतंत्र नहीं था।

अच्छा सूट पहनने वाले चुनाव आयुक्त ने भी कहा था कि ऐसी जीत की प्रतिष्ठा नहीं होती। टेलर सूट सिल सकता है किरदार नहीं बना सकता । मेरे टेलर को बुरा लगता है जब वे गोदी मीडिया के लोफर एंकरों को नए-नए सूट में देखते हैं। हर दस दिन पर फ़ोन करते हैं कि इस रंग का सूट बना दूँ। मैं मना कर देता हूँ । मैं उनका नंबर शेयर कर सकता हूँ लेकिन केवल मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त को दूँगा। गोदी एंकरों को नहीं । गोदी एंकरों का टेलर फ़ासीवाद को सुंदर बनाता है। मेरे टेलर साहब लोकतंत्र को संवारने का सपना देखते हैं।

शाबाश विपक्ष । गोदी मीडिया के कितने एंकर यह काम कर पाते। लिख देते तो गोदी सेठ हंटर से न्यूज़ रूम में पिटवाता। इन एंकरों के बस की बात नहीं। उनका काम है अंग्रेज़ी बोल कर लोकतंत्र की हत्या करना और हिन्दी बोल कर उसकी लाश पर नाचना।

इस चुनाव में विपक्ष ने नंगे पाँव तपती सड़क पर दौड़ लगाई है। गुंडा हो चुकी एजेंसियों से उसके हाथ पाँव बांध दिए गए थे। हत्यारी गोदी मीडिया से भी उसे लड़ना था। वरना चार सौ की संख्या विपक्ष की तरफ़ आती। इस हाल में विपक्ष को एक सीट आती तब भी यही टाइटल लगाता। शाबाश विपक्ष ।

इस वीडियो को 9.5 M व्यूज़ मिले हैं। 1 जून को अपलोड किया था। उसी दिन 6 M हो गया था। मेरे पास कोई गोदी सेठ होता तो उसी के पैसे से हर शहर में विज्ञापन का स्पेस ख़रीदता और लिखवा देता- गोदी मीडिया लोकतंत्र का हत्यारा है।

I see a lot of commentary on the contributions of Dhruv Rathee and other political influencers in yesterday’s verdict. Yes, they were brilliant in how they countered BJP’s hateful information machinery (from television to social media). But the real heroes here are those who led people’s movements in several parts of the country. The farmers, the tribals, the anti-CAA protesters and many others, who kept working on the ground, even in the face of vindictive bulldozer justice.
