@OsitaNwanevu @zdch Also, his favorability ratings were pretty consistently higher than his job approval ratings; most people liked him even if they didn't like him as president. Very strong argument to be made that his popularity mitigated losses in 2010.

@OsitaNwanevu @zdch Sure, but he pretty much always ran ahead of both the Dem Congressional delegation and the party as a whole. Per Gallup, Dem Party averaged a 44.3% approval rating during his two terms, and Dems in Congress averaged 35.2%.

@zdch I mean honestly, this is a real problem with the DSA left. The traditional understanding of bourgeois-proletariat distinction doesn't map well onto a modern economy where almost 2/3s of the country own stock in some form.
