@archpaper great article but please correct "China has cut the Beijing-Shanghai travel time to four hours with a maglev line." The world's only high speed maglev line in commercial operation is 30km long and runs from Shanghai's airport and barely reaches the city center.

@kennethsideas @murkee @geofftech Was going to say the same thing. e.g. The Draper, between the Empire State Building & Bryant Park, has rooms during the week for $175 (after taxes) with 4.4 stars on Google Maps. Same price as the cheapest options in Newark.

My favorite is The Graduate on Roosevelt Island.

Impossible to overstate how important it is to recognize that “density along arterials” is a POLITICAL choice to concentrate inexpensive multifamily housing along dangerous polluted streets to “preserve” the exclusivity of single family neighborhoods.
