Still thinking abt spider-girl 2025… could’ve been an exploration of how unkind the world is to children a lot of the time to make her an inherent underdog in classic spider-man life-isn’t-fairisms or but alas. She’s just Really Good at martial arts
But she’s a lone kid hero who is new to the city and has minimal supervision due to life circumstances, it’d be nice to lean into the drama of her just need mom sometimes but being unable to explain why or how she gets hurt or scared. Rooting 4 u Maka hope you don’t get Anya’d
Update: Very cute in tone but kind of meh in the way that a lot of modern spidey tends to be where it suffers from trying to charm you with the MC through quippy dialogue at no one in particular and inner dialogue telling you stuff you could’ve assumed from context instead (1/8)
Bonus bc im being negative as hell. Maka is very cute & the art is very pretty, paper doll was my favorite part of the book probably. This book has a lot of potential if they really dig into the angle that this is a literal child superhero, I’m not saying go Garth Ennising (1/2)
