Today we, together with our nation, mourn the passing of former U.S. President James Earl Carter, Jr.
Cumberlands was blessed to host President Carter on campus as our honored guest speaker for the dedication of our O. Wayne Rollins Center in 1990 (President Carter is pictured with O. Wayne Rollins). His presence and his speech echoed the pride, joy, and hope of the day
The loss of former President Carter is indeed a loss to humanity. But his legacy lives on, encouraging us all to help our communities the way he helped so many.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Carter family during this time. Thank you for sharing Mr. Carter with us, and may he rest in peace.

It takes a great deal of arrogance to live in the U.S. with over 200 different sects of Christianity, all with their own unique theology, yet insist that only your sect has the moral authority to speak, not only for all Christians, but for all people in our country as well.
