I , Akhlaque Ahmed, currently serving as the Director of Admissions at Gambat Medical College. I am writing to report a concerning incident that occurred during my duty as a vigilance member for the MDCAT exam held on November 19, 2023, at the Larkana center.
This marks my third time serving as a vigilance member from Gambat Medical College, and I have always upheld the highest standards of integrity and commitment to the security of the examination process. However, today, an unusual incident took place involving a Dow member that requires immediate attention.
Around 9:00 AM, as part of my routine duties, I began observing the TCS van's arrival at the test center venue. I meticulously documented the serial numbers of each box, as is our annual practice. During this process, I noticed that one of the boxes appeared to be slightly open from the bottom, although the seal was intact. This raised suspicions that someone may have tampered with the box, attempting to open it and then resealing it from the bottom. I promptly informed the Dow representatives about this concern, but unfortunately, it did not receive the attention it deserved.
Later, around 10:30 AM, after the commencement of the exam, a student approached me with a complaint that her question paper was missing page 8 due to a printing mistake. In the absence of a pen or paper, I took a picture of the affected zone, capturing the seating arrangement, to convey the issue to the chief invigilator effectively. When I approached a Dow examination member to discuss the severity of the problem faced by the candidate, I was met with hostility. The Dow member not only confiscated my personal mobile phone but also took my identity card, subjecting me to unwarranted misbehavior.
I must emphasize that I am a vigilance committee member from Gambat Medical College, carrying out my duties in the interest of maintaining the integrity of the examination process. I am deeply concerned that the Dow member may attempt to erase the data on my mobile phone, particularly the picture indicating the suspicious opening of the box, which serves as crucial evidence.
I urgently request that the higher authorities investigate this matter promptly. It is crucial to preserve the evidence on my mobile phone and take appropriate action against the Dow member's misconduct. Additionally, measures should be taken to address the printing error in the question paper to ensure fairness for the affected candidates.
Irequest your immediate attention to this matter and trust that the necessary steps will be taken to uphold the integrity of the MDCAT examination process.
