🔥100 Gun Salute to Pooja Meghwal!
On April 29 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Dalit bride Pooja Meghwal was dressed as a beautiful bride and proudly seated atop a horse during her wedding procession.
But upper-caste men could not tolerate the sight of a Dalit woman riding a horse. They humiliated her, forced her to dismount, and attacked the entire procession.
Yesterday, Pooja rose again fearless and dignified. Mounted on the horse, holding a photograph of Jyotirao Phule, she led a massive procession to the Collectorate demanding justice.
This time, no one dared to stop her. Courage cannot be broken.
Dignity cannot be denied.
I travelled through Great Nicobar today.
These are the most extraordinary forests I have ever seen in my life. Trees older than memory. Forests that took generations to grow.
The people on this island are equally beautiful - both the adivasi communities and the settlers - but they are being robbed of what is rightfully theirs.
The government calls what it is doing here a “Project.” What I have seen is not a project. It is millions of trees marked for the axe. It is 160 square kilometres of rainforest condemned to die. It is communities that have been ignored while their homes have been snatched away.
This is not development. This is destruction dressed in development’s language.
So I will say it plainly, and I will keep saying it: what is being done in Great Nicobar is one of the biggest scams and gravest crimes against this country’s natural and tribal heritage in our lifetime.
It must be stopped. And it can be stopped - if Indians choose to see what I have seen.
One cannot be the heir of Manu and the champion of women. Not simultaneously. Not credibly.
I write ✍️
India has a new champion of women. He is loud about it. He wants you to believe it. And he is counting on you forgetting everything that came before.
Don’t.
As Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has presided over some of the lowest representation of women in Parliament, in state assemblies, and in his own Cabinet in recent memory.
His tenure will be remembered for the weaponisation of misogyny, for an IT cell that sexualises dissent, for a party leadership that garlanded convicted rapists, for a silence so conspicuous it became its own statement when women wrestlers sat in protest at Jantar Mantar.
The pattern is not incidental. It flows from an intellectual tradition that has never treated women as political equals.
Congress has different tradition
• Before Britain, France & the US gave women the vote, the Indian National Congress made Annie Besant President in 1917, Sarojini Naidu in 1925, Nellie Sengupta in 1933. Women led our national movement.
• The Motilal Nehru Report (1928) — India’s first self-drafted constitutional blueprint — explicitly proposed universal adult franchise regardless of sex. Congress didn’t discover women’s rights in an election year.
• The Karachi Resolution (1931) guaranteed equality before law and freedom of conscience. The architecture of the republic was built with women’s rights as non-negotiable — before the republic even existed.
• Gandhi said: “The awakening of women is the most significant sign of the awakening of India.” Nehru wrote that a civilisation is measured by the status of its women. These were not slogans. They were governing philosophy.
RSS Record
• The RSS was founded in 1925. For the next 25 years , through the entire drafting of the Constitution, it produced not one substantive statement on women’s rights, education or political participation.
• When the Constitution was adopted, the RSS mouthpiece Organiser praised the Manusmriti, which holds that a woman must never assert herself independently, guarded by father, husband, then son.
• When the Hindu Code Bill sought to give women equal inheritance and divorce rights, RSS workers burnt Nehru and Ambedkar’s effigies. BJP’s predecessor called it an “atom bomb on Hindu society.”
• In 2013, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said a husband may disown his wife if she fails to look after the home. This is not ancient history. This is the ideological sovereign of today’s ruling party.
• The BJP did not discover women’s rights. It borrowed the cause, the language, the legislative frame from a democratic tradition it spent decades opposing — and is counting on voters forgetting that history.

What I said was wrong. India didn’t agree to stopping import of oil from Russia anytime. Also it vigorously protested 50 percent tariff imposition. I was trying to make a limited counterpoint to d other panelist. But factually incorrect. My apologies.
Dear @narendramodi your party has the lowest percentage of women among all parties in Lok Sabha . Implement Women’s Reservation NOW based on 543 seats - what is stopping you? Jumlabazi Nahi Chalegi
Important (here’s what actually happened yesterday)
👉 Modi Govt tried to bring a Bill which would set up a Delimitation Commission that includes a retired SC judge & CEC Gyanesh Kumar
👉 This commission would REDRAW all the Lok Sabha & Assembly constituencies in India in BJP’s favor before the 2029 elections
👉 Parliament had unanimously passed the Women’s Reservation Act in 2023 which guarantees 33% reservations for women supported by the Opposition
👉 Then Modi Govt shamelessly tried to tie women’s reservation to this delimitation bill where the agenda was to manipulate elections using women as an excuse
Thanks to a united Opposition, the Modi Govt’s agenda of delimitation was DEFEATED in Parliament yesterday.
What is HISTORIC is that:
👉 This is the 1st Bill to be defeated in Lok Sabha since 2011 (15 years)
👉 Since Independence, only 5 Govt Bills have been defeated in LS. This Bill is the 6th
After this humiliating defeat, BJP is now spreading the FALSE PROPAGANDA that “Opposition defeated women’s reservation”.
Truth is:
👉 Opposition demanded IMMEDIATE implementation of women’s reservation without delimitation
👉 Modi Govt blocked this because their real agenda was delimitation & manipulation of electoral constituencies
This is a HUGE defeat for Modi-Shah & their sinister agenda. They have been humiliated in Parliament - a place they otherwise take for granted.
Yesterday, the Opposition blocked Modi-Shah from manipulating the 2029 elections.
This is the beginning of the end of Modi-Shah’s rule. 💪

And here comes the favourite part!!
I can still remember my joy when we heard Ravish sir has won Ramon Magsaysay award!!
I am glad they recorded his raw reactions🙏🏻
Keep fighting for what’s right❤️
Ravish did it. Only Ravish could do it “while we watched”.
