It goes way deeper and sad.

A dog used to follow pilgrims to a Hindu religious site in Sri Lanka, and videos of it were shared warmly in Sri Lankan Hindu circles.
In late June, offended by the videos, a Muslim man went to the pilgrimage site, located the dog, kicked it, and uploaded the video, sparking outrage. During one such argument, a Sri Lankan Muslim wrote a derogatory post against the Hindu deity.
Anojan Sivarasa, a Sri Lankan Hindu working as a laborer in Saudi Arabia, didn't like the comment and responded with a reply that was allegedly derogatory to the Prophet.
Anojan's well-wisher immediately warned him. He took down the comment and issued a video apology within five minutes in which he said he was responding to an insult to his faith. However, it was too late. Anojan's fellow Sri Lankan Muslims had already taken a screenshot and emailed it to his employer in Saudi Arabia. His employer promptly reported it to the authorities, who arrested Anojan and put him on trial. He has been sentenced to death.
Saudi Arabia rarely reverses a decision once it has made one, but there should be global outrage over this. Blasphemy laws or whatever, the man was only responding to an insult to his faith, deleted the comment, and issued an apology within minutes, yet he will still have to pay with his life while those who provoked him are rejoicing in Sri Lanka. This is unacceptable. Anyone calling themselves a free speech supporter and not opposing this is a hypocrite of the highest order.
7 October 2023: the worst attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. One remembers the victims, the families and the Israeli people three years later. India, which has long been subjected to cross-border terrorism, empathises. Also, we feel proud that an Indian (Captain Smit) prevented another terrible attack against innocents. For modernity in Middle East, whatever flag it wears: Israel or UAE or indeed India.
A Muslim dude kicks a dog in Sri Lanka, a) because Islam hates dogs and b) this one was named after a Hindu deity. Is later let off with a backbreaking 100 rupees in fine.
A man, himself named after Shiva, expresses displeasure on social media and is trolled by Muslims, one mocking him for “worshipping a penis.” Triggered, he says something about Muhammad.
Now facing execution in Saudi Arabia.
Did you notice how different communities see and treat “blasphemy” of their gods? The Muslim was not even punished, the fine was for animal cruelty. The Hindu was sentenced to death.
Now recall our own Nupur Sharma. Exact same chain of events. Cities burned and throats opened, not because the maulana mocked Shiva but because Nupur said something about Muhammad.
Sure, we can’t do anything about Saudi, their land their laws. But we can and MUST make a choice regarding Muslims back home.
Either beat tolerance into them with brute force. Or subject them to the same intolerance. There’s no moral or ethical justification for a Muslim to blaspheme against a non-Muslim deity and live when the same security cannot extend to a non-Muslim.
I used to drive past this spot twice a day on scooter from 2019 to 2024 to drop my wife off and pick her up from office.
It never got this bad.
Something has gone horribly wrong in Bengaluru's waste management system. That, or there is zero enforcement of illegal dumping laws.
@ShamikaRavi@TheEconomist Affection is real, but the animal was tortured to be domesticated and forced into temple ceremonies for life. This is not how "nature is a way of life" should be practiced.
Tenkasi: A mother with two young children sets them and herself on fire, and they all died. She was heartbroken because her huband came drunk to the temple festival and insulted her character in front of everyone.
During my morning walk today, I came across a woman with two children who had a similar tale of woe about her alcoholic husband.
Alcohol is the leading cause of murders, suicides and social conflict in rural areas. Alcohol is destroying young men and alcoholic men cause destruction to their families.
This is why I am strongly in favor of prohibition in Tamil Nadu. With technology, it can be made to work. We owe it to these women and their children.
Anojan is facing execution in Saudi Arabia over a FB comment, over a video of a Muslim man kicking a dog following Hindu pilgrims in Sri Lanka. After a Muslim insulted a Hindu deity online, Anojan responded by insulting Prophet Muhammad. For that, he's been sentenced to death. Barbaric society.
People will mock me, but I honestly feel she has been the best FM we have had. Her communication is precise, and she has done a ton of good. Yes, the negative nancies on social media will always keep whining. You can criticise certain policies, but she is one of our better ministers.

I accompanied my mother for a land sale registration on Saturday near Choutuppal sub registrar office.
It was on the first floor, and these are the stairs!
No lift
Considering transactions worth crores are done in the Sub registrars office. Why cannot the government provide us a safe & clean environment for this ?

The official verdict is absolute Crap!
I'm a Commercial pilot (Complex piston singles) and I have followed this story from the beginning. The official story is pathetic. This will go down in history as one best examples of aviation bravery.
For this story to have the happy ending that it did, 3 things had to happen perfectly:
First, Cpt. Smit who while on the floor (being attacked with an axe!!!) thought "these are my last moments, but I cant let these people die" and somehow opened the cockpit door. Without his bravery and determination, Everybody dies no question.
Second the passengers Yaniv and Yitzhack rushed the cockpit the minute they heard screams. Dont minimize this. Most people in a situation like this would freeze in their seats. Not to mention getting the the front of the plane in a zero G nose over. I'm assuming IDF training (mandatory for all Israelis) but even then excellent reactions under pressure. By rushing to the front immediately, they were on the other side of the door the second that Cpt Smit opened it. The IDF training also probably had a hand in their ability to rapidly neutralize the co-pilot.
Yaniv taking the stick and pulling out of the dive is critical simply because there was no time otherwise. At the rate of decent by that point there is maybe 30s to impact if they keep diving (and they were already past Vne)
However, contrary to popular male ego, a non pilot successfully recovering the plane has odds near zero. Commercial aircraft are huge and have massive momentum. Even in a small plane, if you are too heavy on the controls nothing happens for ten seconds, then next thing you know you are upside down. The most likely outcome after a non-pilot pulling out of a dive would be overcontrolling and triggering a stall. Fortunately (according to Yaniv's interview) the relief pilot took over just as he leveled the plane.
The relief pilots being on board was fortunate, the relief pilot managing to take over the controls before Yaniv could trigger a stall was perfect timing. The pilots were not just random pilots or random airline pilots, they were the relief crew which meant they had hundreds if not thousands of hours in that exact model. Why is this important? Because the co-pilot had smashed the instruments (once again from Yaniv's interview) and the rudder was damaged from exceeding Vne. The relief pilots could handle this as a routine emergency, for a pilot unfamiliar with that airplane and instruments smashed it would be a insurmountable challenge.
Finally the Pilot who thought he was going to die was in luck because on board was a dentist. A dental surgeon no less. Not quite the same an ER doc, but enough to stop major arterial bleeding from multiple wounds.
If somebody doesnt make a great movie out of this it would be a crime. This is aviation history being made.
Kids who hurt animals need serious COUNSELLING this is not a game!
Cruelty at a young age should never be ignored. Children must be taught empathy, compassion and respect for every living being.
And the responsibility also lies with PARENTS. They need to know what their children are doing, guide them, correct such behaviour and make them understand that animals feel pain and fear too.
Those recording such acts instead of stopping them also need to be counselled.
Don’t just condemn children EDUCATE them. Teach kindness before cruelty becomes a habit. 🙏
