Immigration is an intentional policy decision, not a force of nature. And currently, whatever politician you hate also supports it.
'legal vs illegal' is barely relevant compared to the larger question of migration itself
@GarrettPetersen Thankfully I used this time to get another credential. Though the early office job still sounds really nice. The extended schooling feels really stagnant
@x1nomachine 'Active steps' falls under multiculturalism here. Whether the states role is active or passive is besides the point.
Modernity has faster homog due to
-further and more frequent migration
-internet interconnection
-urban concentration
Past cities still did often homogenize
@x1nomachine It's all interconnected, the decision to do nothing still involves.
There's really no way to throw one' hands up and abdicate. Do we want multiple cultures or one culture? That's the question
@x1nomachine It may not be inevitable, through arrangements that focus more on preservation, such as the multi culturalism option described above. This gives differentiation more time to happen.
@x1nomachine Differentiation occurs everywhere all the time. The question is whether it occurs fast enough to outpace homogenization. Polyculturalism here would have a faster rate of homogenization compared to multiculturalism
@x1nomachine@foolyoldaccount@CatRedFront That's part of the differentiation. It happens, just slowly. Takes a lot longer to grow a fruit than to make a cool milkshake from it
@00xv01Fg@alekr129 The original tweet still holds if interpreted as ' hyperbolic ex boyfriend '. The hyperbole itself is part of the observation

@foolyoldaccount@CatRedFront The rate of 'intercultural contact and strand recombination' (mixing) would likely exceed the rate of cultural differentiation. The result over time would be homogenization of culture
@CatRedFront Neolib can't take this option because defining a standard to integrate to would be considered supremacist.
It is true though that localities tend to homogenize, multi culture only works at scales larger than ๐จ๐ญ.
@Analttoargue@CatRedFront The uk has massively and intentionally failed at integration. This an obvious reality not even the most obtuse policy makers deny
@Rujo_@Unassociat19772@feikcel A teenager doesn't have to beat themselves up over random impure thoughts to have a pure heart. Someone who never has those thoughts is dysfunctional (or has a busy fruitful life)
'Adultery' is a term for married people. Is it definitionally not for everyone.
@Rujo_@Unassociat19772@feikcel I don't think it's hard to be a dysfunctional asexual. I think it's not what scripture says. Adultery refers to married people. It has no relation to a single teenager.
@atlanticesque@favelaoverlord Fair, though Americans were pretty uniquely mobile compared to peers. The global baseline for industrialized countries is lower
@Rujo_@Unassociat19772@feikcel You're interpretation means 90% of the male population needs to gouge their eyes out. Use your noggin
https://t.co/3cmIK0W64J
@Unassociat19772 Actually it's what Jesus wanted
"anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart"
"If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away"
OP doesn't want to gouge his right eye, so he tries to find another solution
@akhivae The nation is family, the nation state is not family. Especially when the state is explicitly post national. Especially when the state heritage is being an imperial fur trading outpost. 51st state lines are silly, as silly as pretending ๐จ๐ฆ is 'classically nationalist'
How do these simple tests keep tripping people up?
All of today's border policies were soft launched with Eastern ๐ช๐บ labor imports. Even if you're aiming for some EU superstate, these internal migrations came from the same poisoned well
