From July 1–10, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is running a 'Safe Footpath Campaign' across 1,000 km of road network — clearing encroachments from footpaths in all five city corporations.

📊 WHY THIS MATTERS

30% of every 1,000 road accident deaths in Bengaluru are pedestrians. The Supreme Court has been clear: walking on a footpath safely is a fundamental right, not a privilege.

🚫 WHAT'S BEING CLEARED
➡Illegal parking on footpaths (vehicles will be towed)
➡Name boards, chairs, tables, and kiosks blocking pedestrian paths
➡Vendors and shops spilling onto walkways

✅ HOW IT'S BEING DONE
➡Notices will be issued before any action — not a sudden crackdown
➡Action will follow the Street Vendors' Protection Act and SC guidelines
➡Municipal officers, police, and clearance teams will coordinate
➡Damaged slabs and kerbs will be repaired alongside clearance

It follows the #1KmChallenge encouraging people to walk short distances instead of driving — Bengaluru is trying to become more walkable, one footpath at a time.

For the last 15 years, I've always had one dream and desire which was to make Indian history interesting for everyone.

In that time period, I have tried writing blogs, long-form posts, stories and threads, to do exactly that.

Some worked, most didn't. But with every post, I always had this nagging question.

Why is Indian history always taught with a tunnel vision. Why is it so fragmented?

Why do we always learn things from the perspective of one empire, kingdom, king or invader.

Why do we never see an all India view of history?

I mean most of us struggle if we are ever are asked this question

1. What was the true extent of the Mughal Empire at its peak?
2. Who were the Cholas' contemporaries in North India?
3. While Muhammad Ghori was fighting the Second Battle of Tarain, who ruled Thanjavur?
4. While Harsha ruled Kannauj, who ruled Assam?

I have always wished there was a simple way to see the political map of India for any year in Indian history.

I have always wished there be a place where

1. One Could Select any year and instantly see who ruled every part of the Indian subcontinent.
2. One could Discover the important events that happened in that year
3. One could select a time period, say 1700 - 1947, and see how the Indian subcontinent evolved in that period.
4. How did one tiny red dot in West Bengal, from a tiny red dot in Europe, somehow came to rule an entire subcontinent of 400 million people,

For years, that idea remained just an idea and a dream because

1. I didn't know how to build a website.
2. I couldn't afford to hire someone who could.

Then Claude Came along.

The state of our footpaths is utterly unacceptable, turning a simple walk into an exhausting obstacle course. Pedestrians are forced to navigate around hazardous construction debris, illegally parked vehicles, and uneven, crumbling pavement that poses a constant tripping risk.

I really hope I don’t have to do this frequently. But, if officers and contractors do not listen and do their job, unfortunately, I will be forced. I appeal to them to do their job properly.
Today, I happened to observe an asphalt work in progress. I was doubtful of the quality. I asked the Commissioner to inspect this asphalt work. Indeed, the work was found to be substandard. Sadly, officer is suspended and contractor penalised.

Hardware is unforgiving.
We launched our charger with much fanfare. And then reality reminded us: hardware is unforgiving. The charger was a completely new category for us. We had solved difficult problems. Our electrical design is comparable to brands like Anker and Belkin, with great thermal behaviour and full potting for long-term reliability.
But one small mechanical detail became the weakest link: the adhesive bond between the body and cap.
We started with cyanoacrylate, then moved to rubber-toughened cyanoacrylate from a US vendor, and later to a German adhesive system. On paper, every step looked like progress.
But manufacturing exposes realities no lab test can fully simulate.
The real problem was not just the adhesive. It was the process window.
A small smooth edge. A tiny bead of adhesive. Operator skill. Dispensing time. Pressure. Alignment. Curing behaviour. Surface energy of the plastic. Every small variation mattered. Most units worked flawlessly. But a small number of customers started seeing caps open over time.
For us, that was unacceptable.
Production came to a halt. Inventory piled up. We were back at the drawing board.
So we began the next journey: ultrasonic welding.
The idea sounded simple: use high-frequency vibrations to melt and fuse the plastic joint. No adhesive. No curing time. More repeatable.
But again, hardware humbled us.
We modified the tooling to introduce energy directors for welding. We developed a custom horn that could hold the body firmly without leaving scratches. Then came tuning fixture rigidity, horn geometry, pressure, amplitude, weld time, hold time, and alignment until the machine, tool, and product all worked in sync. It took multiple iterations.
I am deeply grateful to users who stayed patient while we completed these trials. Some customers waited with fully paid, non-working chargers and still refused refunds because they believed we would solve it.
That trust means everything to us.
We are now shipping replacement units to everyone affected. The 2-year warranty stays unchanged, and the new units are back on Amazon, capable of charging everything from an iPhone to a MacBook and other USB-PD devices.
India needs more products to be built here. But I am realising how audacious this journey truly is. Building hardware is not just about design. It is process engineering, materials science, tooling, vendor development, manufacturing discipline, reliability engineering, and customer trust all happening simultaneously.
But we are still here. Still learning. Still building.
