The Air Force Band was exceptional at the Beating Retreat 2026.
They performed ‘Brave Warrior’, ‘Twilight’, ‘Alert (Post Horn Gallop)’ and ‘Flying Star’ impeccably.
The Sindoor formation was brilliant!
Guwahati is leading the Northeast
My father once took a train all the way to Kolkata in the 80s…
Just to buy a Wren & Martin Solution Book from College Street.
That was the era when Kolkata was the cultural headquarters of East India.
From Bhupen Hazarika to Lakshminath Bezbaruah, all our legends made a Kolkata pit stop.
Cut to 2025:
We only go to Kolkata now for one thing, that is Visa appointments.
(And even that list is shrinking faster than the Howrah Bridge paint job.)
Because today, Guwahati has become the hub of the entire Northeast.
A city that once needed Kolkata for everything
now gets visa approvals for 60+ countries on its own turf.
Kolkata is no longer our gateway to the world,
Guwahati is. (From Northeast)
Northeast India is becoming self-sufficient.
And Guwahati is quietly (and sometimes loudly) leading the charge.
Saurav Kumar Chaliha once had to create a fictional assignment to glorify Guwahati.
We don’t have to do that anymore.
The city speaks for itself.

Wildlife Institute of India is tracking 3 Amur Falcon birds this year and their journeys will blow your mind 🤯
The most fascinating thing to me is that the weight of bird is around 150 grams yet it covered nearly 1,000 km/day 😱
They tagged the birds on 11 Nov 2025 and within days they were on their ocean-crossing segment.
Their route includes: Manipur → central India → across Arabian Sea → East Africa (Somalia region) → down to Southern Africa (wintering grounds)
Apapang (one of the falcons) is showing an astonishing performance: within 76 hours he covered about 3,100 km, averaging nearly 1,000 km per day cutting across central India, skimming past Gujarat and heading over the Arabian Sea
The tracker data showed that one of them has covered nearly 5,400 km in about five days, again emphasizing the extreme endurance of these birds

In the Northeast, we grow up knowing the names of every Indian state. But in many parts of India, people still confuse us with another country. This isn’t about blame or playing the victim card; it’s about awareness. If India wants unity, the education system must teach every child who *its* own people are.

“First word is thank, second word is you.”
Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh expresses heartfelt gratitude as the Indian Air Force marks its first-ever grand air show in the Northeast over the Brahmaputra.
He added, “The North East is no longer a remote place. We always had various display teams coming to the Northeast and continuing. This is the first time we’ve had an Air Force Day celebration here.”
The skies over Guwahati came alive as the #IndianAirForce celebrated its 93rd Anniversary with a breathtaking air show over the Brahmaputra.
From Tejas, Apache & C-295 to the thrilling aerobatics by Sukhoi-30, Rafale, @Suryakiran_IAF & Sarang — the display embodied this year’s theme “Infallible, Impervious & Precise.”

What if a river could sing the story of its people?
In the border town of Gauripur, where the Brahmaputra cradles fields and homes, a young girl grew up listening to the songs of mahouts, fishermen, and farmers — melodies of love, struggle, and everyday life.
That girl was Pratima Barua Pandey, a princess who chose to sing for the people. Born into royalty, she found her muse not in palaces but in the river’s rhythm and the voices of those who lived by it.
Encouraged by her grandfather and inspired by folk artists welcomed across faiths and castes, she gave voice to her homeland’s heartbeat, the Goalpariya Lokgeet.
With no formal training, Pratima turned emotion into melody.
Mentored by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, she carried the folk songs of western Assam to the big screen, blending Assamese, Bengali, and Rajbongshi influences into one soulful sound.
Her songs O Mor Mahut Bondhu Re, Hasthir Kanya, and Komola Sundori Nache captured the essence of the Koch Rajbongshi community and brought their culture to national attention.
A Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, she transformed a regional dialect into India’s melody of unity.
And when Sundari Komola earned a standing ovation on India’s Got Talent, it was more than a performance. It was the river singing again, in her name.

Incredible.

An extra chromosome does not determine a person’s worth or humanity.
We need more of this.
