โPersistence often requires some delusion.โ
Last week, I sat down with @alvinsalehi_, co-founder of @OrderShef, for a candid fireside in SF. That line alone was worth the trip.
Here are just a couple of the valuable lessons Alvin shared ๐งต
Three references, technically... ๐
@alvinsalehi_ from @OrderShef is joining us for an off-the-record convo next Thursday, chatting about all things founder advice related. Limited spots. Come join us!

We didn't plan for a Unicorner crossover, but here we are.
This weekโs edition of The Highlight contains not one, but two references to Unicorner companies.
One of the most exhilarating feelings as a founder is sitting on, and then revealing, momentous news like this.
Yesterday, Arek Der-Sarkissian and I announced the acquisition of Just Go Grind.
This was the most recent milestone to conclude an eventful year. ๐งต
I sold @justgogrind to @UnicornerNews to go all in on The LA Grind and The SF Grind!
A little more about how this came to be and what's next...
A few months ago, after launching The LA Grind and immediately seeing the strong response, it became clear to me that this could be THE thing I work on.
I love the combo of local media + events. It fits my personality perfectly, it's both highly impactful and can scale, and the business potential is SOOOO good.
Only one problem: Focus.
I didn't think I could run both.
So I teased the idea of selling it, something I once thought I'd never do.
When @areksds and Ethan Keshishian, founders of Unicorner, and people I'd known for years, expressed interest, I was super intrigued.
We talked a bunch about it and it just made so much sense given what they're building and the direction I was heading.
Thankfully, my friend Ephraim Hintz from Polsinelli helped in closing the deal and I'm so happy with the outcome.
So whatโs next?
I'm doubling down on The LA Grind and The SF Grind.
Local media + events has been an incredibly strong model so far.
The LA Grind Club is growing with 60+ members now, a mix of founders, operators, and investors and The SF Grind is already showing great early traction.
Selling the Just Go Grind newsletter gives me focus and bandwidth to build this properly.
I am also keeping the Just Go Grind podcast, though I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet.
And... I will likely be raising a small angel round to accelerate whatโs already working.
More to come.
Thanks to all the people who supported and read the Just Go Grind newsletter!
That support led to me feeling confident about quitting my job at VITALIZE Venture Capital to go all-in more than 2.5 years ago.
For that, I'm forever grateful, as it led to The LA Grind and The SF Grind, which I'm thoroughly enjoying building.
We're just getting started!
Unicorner has acquired @justgogrind. And we're launching a second newsletter. ๐ฆ
We first met @justingordon212 two years ago. He ran an incredibly impressive newsletter sharing the life stories of top founders.
Today, we're excited to announce that:
1) We have purchased the Just Go Grind newsletter and will be welcoming over 20,000 new members to our community.
2) We will continue operating Just Go Grind (under a new name) as our second Unicorner newsletter, now sharing the life stories of billion-dollar founders, investors, and operators in addition to our weekly startup covers.
3) We're partnering with Justin on building some of the best programming in LA & SF in 2026.
Onwards and upwards! ๐
Today, @mercury is launching an MCP to help entrepreneurs and founders bring finance data to the tools they're working in
Mercury MCP is great at 3 tasks:
1) check balances / download statements
2) pull transactions to graph or analyze spend
3) understand card/recipient details
We just got early access to @beehiiv's Winter Release and... wow. No words. (literally and figuratively, they got me under NDA) ๐ค
Never been more bullish on @denk_tweets and the team. Literally building everything we've asked for at Unicorner and more.
I'm doing a live fireside chat with @MollySOShea in santa monica this wednesday (3-5p)
some people are calling it the best event of LA Tech Week ๐ด
RSVP (limited spots left) ๐
