Women: Male violence and hatred against women is so bad we think we might be safer around a bear.
Healthy Male Response: Wow, it is really troubling that women feel that way. What can I do?
Instead: Women are dumb, I’m a nice guy. I hope the bear kills them.
See the problem.
"If you don't trust the men around you, the society you are living in is a failure."
He almost had it. Patriarchal society is & has always been a failure for women. Girls cannot trust random men. Women cannot trust men not to legislate away our human rights. Women are not safe.
@nrdgrl007@AllMathAndCats@ask_aubry I thought this as well, but there IS a non-invasive test now that detects and analyzes the baby's DNA in the mother's blood.
Whether that it's available to them in their area w their providers, I have no idea. Probably why he cooled it on the idea, cuz he realized it's risky.
@ask_aubry Third, even if the test is the non invasive kind, it's still blood drawn. She's getting poked and prodded beyond belief already, being pregnant, and he wants to put her through MORE of that just to satisfy his insecurities?
Yeah, fuck that guy. 2/2
@ask_aubry Dump his ass. I know easier said than done esp for her being pregnant, but damn he sucks and needs to go.
Like, first of all what's so hard about scheduling an appointment. Second of all fuck him for not trusting her. 1/
@LorcaDamon@shilohpie@ThomBlank@_nomadic_soul The commenter said "taught". You really think sexual/marital expectations were taught in school? What other way would it be taught but informally?
@LorcaDamon@shilohpie@ThomBlank@_nomadic_soul Taught academically or formally? No of course not. Taught informally by social cues and the women/men/peers in their proximity? Absolutely.
@ThomBlank@small_meeps@_nomadic_soul@shilohpie I see you're just completely ignoring every single woman who has ever been sexually assaulted on the street, on the subway, on trains, at work, etc etc etc. There IS no place a woman will go where the possibility of a man near her wanting wex is 0%.
@ThomBlank@small_meeps@_nomadic_soul@shilohpie How bout the gay man in this fictional scenario is your boss and you're in his office w him to discuss work stuff. And he decides you seem like you want it.
Yeah that's what I thought. Stfu.
@Jonny_Boyle@ask_aubry Part of that is weeding out those awful people who want to do us harm. Putting our political stances up front like that is setting a boundary that we will not entertain bigots. Period. If that annoys you, oh well. It serves a purpose. We're not just sucking our own dicks here.
@Jonny_Boyle@ask_aubry I think you're speaking from a place of privilege when you call it annoying or virtue signaling. Your well-being may not be constantly threatened, but ours is. So being vocal, opinionated, and unwilling to engage w hateful people is valid. Protecting our peace and safety is valid
