IELTS is not the first thing you rush to write if you're interested in graduate school in the US

I know there's a PR for IELTS, and that's why some people think that's what you must do if you're interested in scholarships

The first thing is to search schools in the US that have funding for your field. Here's how: https://t.co/fUrOzThtdF

When you find the school, check their requirements. That's where you find out if they even require any test at all. Most times, it is GRE and TOEFL (for English proficiency). They can accept IELTS in place of TOEFL

You can write schools to waive these tests for you if they'll be a burden or serve as hindrance. Nigeria is also an English speaking country, so we shouldn't be writing English proficiency (many exempt us from it). See how: https://t.co/2AOB62oqtQ

After finding a professor who fits, you need to send cold emails. No all schools require this, but there are benefits. Check here for how: https://t.co/cxwHyk5O1u and https://t.co/aVr9dFRRh9

You repeat this process for multiple schools, as much as you can find, then decide where to apply
