Y'all, meet my alter-ego @vnkrivopalov.
Why another account? In two words, my Twi-feed is evenly filled with two very diverse topics:
1. Tech, IT, softdev, etc.
2. Health&fitness.
I enjoy reading both but not at the same time, hence the split...
1/2
Politics is such a popular topic on X because so many people have an external locus of control.
While it's to be expected that you have political opinions, focusing on things you can take action on is what will improve your life.
@Mangan150 I've been recently referred to Attia as an expert when I tried to explain that one doesn't need 2+hr/week of cardio in addition to strength training. Pointed several related articles but got all of them dismissed. For some people, trusting experts still replaces research&doubt.
@allicovington@jackmurphylive@_ChrisCovington@Mangan150@BayeDrew I heard something about 20-30 years of experience from a physician trying to prescribe me statins, too. And no pointers to articles either.
And yes, I do have lots to learn, I keep learning. And so far those guys you dismissed in the thread above sound way more convincing. QED.
@_ChrisCovington@jackmurphylive@allicovington@Mangan150@BayeDrew@PeterAttiaMD I shared a study by scientists a couple links above.
I can reiterate it here: https://t.co/UWS9VJOdpP
And a couple other studies earlier in the thread.
By 'sources' I mean articles, not coaches. That's why you referring to Peter Attia is off. Share articles debunking mine.
@jackmurphylive@allicovington@_ChrisCovington@Mangan150@BayeDrew Let's get a little more specific. This study has been conducted back in 2012:
https://t.co/UWS9VJOdpP
..types of adaptations one would expect from traditional endurance-type aerobic exercise can be acquired just as completely through resistance training.
What's wrong with it?
@allicovington@_ChrisCovington@jackmurphylive@Mangan150@BayeDrew Like it how you all guys jump to conclusions based on a bystander's explanation rather than caring to check what they say themselves.
"I don't like Beatles, my neighbor has sung me a couple of their songs, and they sound disgusting".
Keep going, this is outright amusing!
Research shows we need 2 hours of just cardio to improve VO2 max for longevity, and we ALL know we need an equal amount of weight training to build adequate muscle strength and size.
@allicovington I did not make your point. Warm-up and warm-down are optional for HIT. Two coaches I tagged above have tons of info on that count if you are open to new perspective.
If you prefer 2hr+ cardio, fine. Just that is not strictly necessary to achieve great results.
